The Congress of the Republic of Aglaria, commonly known as the Congress of Aglaria or the Congress of the Republic, is the bicameral legislature of the Republic of Aglaria. Initially established as a unicameral body, it is now bicameral and consists of a senate and a chamber of deputies.
History
The congress was established on 26 November 2022 as a unicameral legislative body. However, on 30 November 2022 the chamber of deputies and senate where established as congressional houses and thus making the congress bicameral.
Role
The primary role of congress is providing the legislative branch of government in Aglaria. However, it has some other duties as well as this.

- Checks and Branches on the Other Branches of Government
Structure
Congress is split into two chambers – Chamber and Senate – and manages the task of advising on national legislation by dividing work into separate committees which specialise in different areas.
Committees
Committees can be formed to provide advice to the government on legislation. As well as this, they can scrutinise specific government departments to provide effective governance and legislation as well as scrutiny.
Procedures
Joint Sessions
Special sessions can be called by either house or the president where both houses sit together. In these instances they form the Assembly of the Republic. However, these sessions aren't normally called unless the nation is experiencing times of emergency, conflict or other major events that require congressional support.
Privileges
Members of congress benefit from congressional privileges. These include the right to absolute freedom of speech during debates as well as freedom from arrest in all cases except for treason, felony, and breach of the peace.
