Salish Republic is a micronation located in western Montana. It's one of chief Rocky Boy's many Reservations and Reserves. Though Flathead Reservation (Reservations and Reserves are Sovereign Nations) was created in 1855, chief Rocky Boy was allowed to send many of his Montana Ojibway Subjects to FR in 1904. Actually Ojibway People were living there already or are native to that region. In 1904, chief Rocky Boy had to negotiate for Flathead Reservation. American leaders were not going to honor treaty. Below is an excerpt from a book about April 23, 1904's Act to open Flathead Reservation to white settlement. Click on it to read it. That is why American leaders set aside a Compact Form Reservation for chief Rocky Boy's Ojibway Subjects in Flathead Reservations west. Below is also an excerpt from a book about a bill created by Senator Gibson, to set aside a Reservation within Flathead Reservation for chief Rocky Boy's Ojibway Subjects. Click on it to read it. We dispute their claim that Senator Gibson's bill to create a Reservation for chief Rocky Boy's Montana Ojibway's within Flathead Reservation failed. We know chief Rocky Boy led many of his Ojibway Subjects to their Reservation within Flathead Reservation.

Salish Republic, which is part of Rocky Boy Tribe of Chippewa Indians, are governed by a Totemic System which is Communistic. By law, all land is held in common. No land is allowed to be owned individually. There are 6 major totems within Ojibway Society. Within each of those totems are smaller totems that are aligned with their major totem. Their major totems are Military and Police, Hunter, Fisher, Merchant, Bird and Medicine Totems. Smaller totems within each major totem, were named for what animal, bird, fish, trade, medicine and Military and Police positions they belonged to. Their Merchant Totem had far more totems than all others. However, their Military and Police Totem had far more members. All totems within each major totem, had a selected leader to be imprisoned during her/his term. All 6 major totems each had a leader selected to be imprisoned during her/his term. These leaders of totems are submissive to their subjects. They have to be submissive. It's not vice-versa.

Our relationship with other Micronations is origins of their micronation. We take this seriously because we have proof that we have a presence at those micronations (Reservations and Reserves) that chief Rocky Boy prepared long ago for his descendants. On September 17, 1851, American leaders recognized Ojibway Territory in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. They will deny it yet we know our history they are disrupting. Later, in 1895-1896 and after, American leaders forced 1,000's or 10,000 to 20,000 Ojibway's to relocate elsewhere. Chief Rocky Boy was their leader. Canada agreed to accept chief Rocky Boy's Ojibway Subjects. England also accepted some of chief Rocky Boy's Subjects. In regards to other nations and our views on them, that is difficult because they can't do much to help our cause. It's more important to align with micronations that take their micronations seriously which means they have historical proof of their nations existence. Those micronations that have intentions of becoming independent, are nothing new. They've been around for 1,000's of years. They are located in every nation. They became or become discontent from some discrimination, law or religion. They tend to react by declaring they no longer recognize a nation they are citizens of. That's civil unrest which often turns deadly. We don't want to get involved with such groups. Our's is not civil unrest. It's reviving our nation.

History

Chief Rocky Boy negotiated with Montana leaders about having land set aside for him and his Ojibway Subjects well before 1904. Senator Gibson is responsible for a bill to create a Reservation for chief Rocky Boy's Montana Ojibway's. It was passed on January 8, 1904. We have been warned not to trust white leaders. They will be deceitful. Land was set aside for chief Rocky Boy's Montana Ojibway's in compact form within Flathead Reservation. We don't know where it was set aside. However, we do know chief Rocky Boy wanted land whites didn't which means mountainous land. Flathead Reservations south and west and northwest is likely where his Reservation is located. Communities include Big Arm, Elmo, Evaro and Old Agency.

Politics and government

Totemic which is Communistic.

Geography and climate

Salish Republic is very mountainous. However, Mission Valley has an abundance of farmland as does Arlee Valley. Chief Rocky Boy knew from instinct not to select land in those locations. Mission Mountains are adjacent to Mission Valley on it's east. They are beautiful mountains. Except for 40 or so sq. mi. of farmland, land west and south of Flathead River and well south of Jocko River, is nearly all mountainous. Flathead Reservations west is what chief Rocky Boy picked or selected. Climate conditions vary. Winters are cold yet not as cold as winters in North Dakota and Minnesota. Chinook Winds do not happen there. It's not a windy place. Summers are short and warm.

Economy

They do not have much of an economy. During summer months, vacationers visit Flathead Lake. Big Arm and Elmo are communities those vacationers visit for boat rentals and other supplies. Cattle raising and some farming is utilized.
