The Commune of the Seven Seas is a prospective seafaring micronation that seeks to establish a colony in the world's oceans using boats, rafts and stilt houses out of renewable materials, energized by solar and wind power. The idea for this entity were largely influenced and inspired by an April fool's joke made by the YouTube channel Geography Now outlining a "floating country" by the name of Sovonthak. The name "Commune of the Seven Seas" was coined on 10 April 2021 and the idea was formalized one day later on 11 April 2021.
Name and Idea
The "Commune" part was chosen because of its democratic and prospectively community oriented nature while the latter "(of the) Seven Seas" refers to the fact that it's a seafaring nation that will seek to establish its territory in international waters via a colony of boats, boat houses, rafts and conditions permitting stilt homes.
Geography
As no territory has been claimed yet, there is not much to say about the geography yet. In the future, the geography will be defined by the position of seafaring devices and houses and not by protrusion of the Earth's crust above the sea level. If no exceptions are to be made to this the entire nation will be flat at sea level with no mountains at all. (Not counting waves)
According to the founder of this nation, foraging and growing algae, bringing crops on a permaculture ship and renewable energies such as hydroelectric, solar and wind power will provide for the nation.
Government
The government will be split into the three classical branches of government: the executive, the legislative and the judiciary. As it stands, founder Aqua will take over the role of the executive council for two years, until 11 April 2023 after which the executive council will be elected; the executive council will be elected every two months by the population, it will be responsible to permit and manage referendums and to appoint judges into the supreme court in case of a vacancy or remove and replace a judge from it - these things will require legislative approval. The legislative is manifested as the entire population who will legislate via referenda.
Economy
According to the founder, agriculture, tourism and digital services will play a big role in the country's economy.
