Influence of the Church

Maldernia is an Integralist state, meaning the teachings of the Catholic Church are the basis of the laws of society, even though there is freedom of religion. The culture of Maldernia is also very Catholic, celebrating Catholic holidays and having Catholic Ceremonies. Latin is one of the official languages of Maldernia and is used in law, government and ceremony. This is most notable in the coronation when the King reads several psalms and prayers in Latin, then takes an oath to protect Maldernia and enforce its laws.
