Bangtanszag formed in the 10th century as a principality of various Koreanic, Turkic, and Uralic tribes who had just displaced the native Slavic tribes there. It had been always under foreign rule, until it was liberated during the invasion of the Holy Roman Reich by the United Alliance Front on January 2021.

As of now, Bangtanszag is in war with the decentralised United Alliance Front and had gain and annexed the territories of Bohemia, Eastern March, and Silesia after a large offensive in June 2021. It is a member of the Orthodox League, with Pandogia and Romansovia.

Etymology

The endonym Bangtanszag is a compound word composed of bangtan (Korean for bulletproof) and szag (country). The word bangtan refers to the country's geography, it being surrounded by the Carpathian mountain range.

History

Prehistory

Prior to the Roman conquest of part of today's Bangtanszag (Cisdanubia), there were no written records about the history of this country. As far as archæology knows, the Carpathian Basin is inhabited by Pannonian Illyrians (northern Albanians) and Dacians on the east of the Danube and Tisza rivers. Centuries after Roman incorporation, the government collapsed and the basin fell to different invasions as nomadic groups migrate to the fertile soils of Europe, including the Huns, Avars, Gökturks, Pechenegs and Cumans.

When all of those nomadic empires fell, most of their territory were split by the emerging United Atlantic Federation and the Empire of the Bulgars, a Turko-Slavic power. This is where the recently unified Turanic tribes collectively known as Bangtans started to enter today's Bangtanszag and settle there, since the Bulgarians failed to assimilate the local population. Jun, the leader of the seven main Bangtan tribes established his capital on Vindobona (now named Bécs). Within a century, they became Christianised and expanded towards Carinthia and Bohemia.

The semi-nomadic state monopolised on trade between the Holy Roman Reich and Romansovia since the trade routes pass towards their territory. They also possess the first cavalry unit in Central Europe, called the huszar, and many mounted units by different European countries were modelled after the Bangtan huszar.

Kingdom period (996-1526)

The prince at that time, Gyösek wanted to integrate Bangtanszag into the whole of Christendom. His successor, Csimin, now known as Nikolaj Khan became the first Orthodox Khagan of Bangtanszag as he was baptised by the Patriarch Sisinnius II of Constantinople, technically upgrading the state from a principality into a khaganate. He instituted Latin as co-official with the Bangtan language, making it connected with the rest of Europe. Matthias I Khan expanded the Bangtan frontiers to the Adriatic Sea, annexing the Croatian and Bosnian kingdoms, which led to conflicts with the Italian city-states.

Bela II Khan gave refuge to Pecheneg and Cuman nomads during the Mongol invasion of Europe and protected their interests here, leading to the first autonomy law known as Diploma Belanum.

The Bangtan Khaganate were one of the first European countries outside of Italy to embrace the Renaissance, with the warrior-poet Matthias IV Khan, being their last great khagan. His legacy is today cemented on Bangtan stories and literature.

With the rise of the Holy Roman Reich and the Arabumbay Caliphate, Bangtanszag became a buffer state along with Lagdamia and Vilasia. When Matthias IV Khan died in 1526, the Arabumbays invaded the khaganate.

Partition (1526-1790)

The Arabumbays led by Baturik Pasha won the decisive battle at Bécs, on 11 September 1526. The Holy Roman Reich, their ally at that time pledge to liberate Bangtanszag. By 1540, they were successful at recapturing Bécs, Sopron, and all of the territories north of the Drava and west of the Tisza. These parts were termed as Imperial Bangtanszag were annexed to the Reich proper in 1550. The Reich finally liberated Transtisza in 1790.

Reich period (1790-2021)

Bangtans enjoyed complete autonomy as being part of the Holy Roman Reich throughout its' history. They had enjoyed the liberal reforms after 1848, social-democratic reforms in 1920 and Bangtans attained high positions within the Reich.

On 5 January 2021, Uzugiris Janos established the Bangtan Khaganate from parts annexed by Yasuslav, the leading kingdom within the Reich, but never left it. The declaration of independence only happened because of the dissatisfaction of the Bangtans towards the "elected" Kaiser, Jeremiah and the corrupt Imperial election of February 2021. Hundreds of Bangtans stormed the parliament at Poszony and torched it down, as dissent spread across the country. The revolution was inspired by similar revolution in Batonia which had the same revolution for the same reason.

Present era (2021-present)

The newly independent Bangtanszag, having recently transferred its' capital in Székesjunfalvá, is in a war with the United Alliance Front, who had just invaded the Holy Roman Reich after the Bangtan deceleration of independence. The army was able to defend the Alps and the Carpathians, until Khagan Janos I ordered an offensive towards Bohemia and Bavaria, conquering Prága and Linz in a matter of days. In June 2021, they were able to push and annex Silesia, Bohemia, and parts of Eastern March. Since September 2021, Bangtanszag is in an alliance with Pandogia (formely Batonia), and Romansovia, known as the Orthodox League.
