The Alliance of Free Peoples, abbreviated as the AFP, is a distributed, democratic alliance of persons that does not claim territory as it instead derives its sovereignty from the consent of its people. The Alliance currently has fourteen citizens and is in talks with three nations. The administrative capital of the Alliance is Asheville, North Carolina, which resides in the United States and is not considered national territory. Citizens from the Alliance hold status as recognized professionals in their fields.

History

Government and Politics

The Executive Branch The Executive Branch is composed of the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, and senior officials. It is responsible for the day-to-day functions of government, and the Chancellor acts as both head-of-state and head-of-government for the Alliance. The Executive Cabinet is composed of the Offices of Intentional Relations, Active Resolution, Social and Economic Equality, Human Equality and Health, and Fair Trade and Commerce.

The Parliamentary Branch The Parliamentary Branch is a unicameral legislature that passes laws and approves treaties as well as Cabinet and Court appointments. It is the most powerful branch of government, and the largest, being ideally composed of up to fifty members.

The Judicial Branch The Judicial branch is composed of the courts, and mediates issues between citizens. As the Alliance does not claim jurisdiction, the courts have no authority to enforce laws, but only to act as a neutral arbitrator between citizens.

Law and Order

The Alliance does not claim territory, and thus does not claim any law enforcement agencies. The Special Intelligence Investigative Service and Executive Security Agency, both of which are currently placeholder agencies, are both responsible for the safety and security of citizens, government employees, and state assets, and do not prosecute crimes.

Military

The Alliance does not currently possess a formal military. In the future, some militaristic elements may become necessary, but it is not currently a priority.

Foreign Relations

The Alliance has great initiatives to achieve greater foreign relations. The Office of Intentional Relations is responsible for the Alliance's foreign policy.
