The Scots Pine tree is a prominent symbol of the country's landscape, as it is the most common tree species in the forests of Valtene. The tree is seen as a symbol of strength, resilience, and endurance, qualities that are highly valued in Valtene's culture. Kvass is the national drink of Valtene. The boar is the national animal of Valtene. The animal is a symbol of strength, courage, and wildness, and is seen as a representation of Valtene's rugged landscape and untamed wilderness. Finally, skābeņu zupa, or sorrel soup, is the national dish of Valtene. It is a sour soup made with sorrel leaves, potatoes, and other ingredients.
Religion
Valtene's official religion was Eastern Orthodoxy, with a strong emphasis on spirituality and mindfulness. While not many in the nation are Eastern Orthodox, King Kristiāns refused to make Valtene a secular state
History
Valtene had undergone several name changes and political upheavals throughout its history. Originally founded as Ronza, the nation went through a series of name changes before settling on Ambestan. During this time, Ambestan was occupied by a communist micronation called Almendria, led by Tizian. After a period of struggle and negotiation, Ambestan finally gained its independence. However, the nation was raided and blackmailed multiple times, leading to a period of unrest and instability. Denolian rebels sparked civil war, which broke out multiple times. Following this tumultuous period, Ambestan was inactive for some time, leading to the eventual reform and rebranding of the nation as Valtene.
Geography
Valtene was located in a dense forest in the region of Semigallia in Latvia. The nation is not near any rivers, lakes, or seas, making it somewhat isolated from the outside world. Despite its isolation, Valtene was a beautiful and idyllic setting, with its dense forests providing ample opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities.
