The Republic of Torusse, more commonly known as Torusse (IPA: ['torussɛ]), is a micronation, located in Central-Europe. The state claims to be a sovereign and independent nation, which is not recognized by any other UN member states, therefore the Republic of Torusse is referred to as a micronation. The country has currently a population of 4 Torusseans, and uses the currency Euro. Torusse is a presidential republic, the head of the state is the president, who is always elected for a term of 2 years.

History

Although the official establishment of the country happened on 20.08.2021, the idea of the Republic of Torusse goes back to 2019. The idea of the nation was and is connected with the idea to have an own language with an own writing system. Therefore the Torussean Language is the backbone of the nation, which successfully came to life on 20.08.2021. This day is made to a national holiday of the founding of the state.

The first presidential election took place on 22.08.2021 in the nation's history and later, on 24.08.2021, the vice-president was elected for the first time as well. On 25.08.2021 the country opened its foreign affairs office to make cooperations with other active micronations in the world.

Flag

The official flag of the Republic of Torusse is made up of 3 stripes, 2 black and 1 green, and a white star in the middle of the green stripe. The colour black represents the hard way, a micronation must go through to achieve international recognition and attention, the green colour means peace and represents the rich nature the country has. The white star represents the hope and freedom of the nation. There is no specific presidential flag.

Foreign relations

The Republic of Torusse does not automatically recognize other micronations. To be recognized by the Republic of Torusse, a bilateral agreement between the two countries/states is needed. This agreement must be signed by the president of both countries. Micronations, which are inactive or do not function as a real nation/country, cannot make a bilateral agreement with the Republic of Torusse.

Note: If a micronation goes inactive, the recognition will be automatically revoked and cannot be renewed.

Torussean nationality law regulates the manner in which one acquires, or is eligible to acquire, Torussean nationality. Nationality, as used in international law, describes the legal methods by which a person obtains a national identity and formal membership in a nation. Citizenship refers to the relationship between a nation and a national, after membership has been attained.

Biometric Passport of the Republic of Torusse

The applicant, who wishes to be naturalized as a citizen of Torusse, must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be a registered foreign citizen in the official database of the Republic of Torusse for a minimum of 2 months
  • Have knowledge of the Torussean language
  • Be an active member of the Torussean community
  • Apply for naturalization before the parliament of the Republic of Torusse


Naturalization will be denied, or the citizenship of a naturalized person will be revoked, if he/she:

  • has been in jail or has a criminal record
  • is under criminal prosecution
  • acts or is intended to act against the interests or the state of the Republic of Torusse
  • is inactive and therefore is not interested in developing the nation


The Republic of Torusse allows dual nationality only in exceptional cases, which are individually examined by the Torussean government. The government then makes the decision whether to accept the dual citizenship application or not. Torussean citizens, who are also citizens of other countries on the basis of the permission of dual citizenship, are recognized only as Torussean citizens within the territory of the Republic, and would normally enter and leave with their Torussean passport.

Cultur

Language

English is the most commonly spoken language in Torusse and the only language used on a daily basis for communication at the moment. The country has its own language, which is proposed to be the first official language instead of English. The language is in the prototype state yet and it will be tested for the everyday use. The country's official religion is Lutheranism.
