The Kingdom of Camden is a semi-direct democratic federal state governed under a semi-constitutional monarchy. It has a form of mixed government in which political power is vested by the reigning monarch and a democratically elected parliament. There is a multi-party system and a form of direct democracy in which the Prime Minister, currently Vianna LiteStone, is liable to the government. However the reigning monarch of Camden, currently High King Issac I, is head of state and exercises considerable political powers.

The Kingdom of Camden was founded as a direct democracy under H.M. Issac I, High King of Camden. For any provision to be added or for the constitution to be amended, a referendum is mandatory (mandatory referendum). The public is also allowed to suggest amendments or laws themselves via the Citizen's Forum (#citizens-forum).

Direct representation

The Kingdom of Camden is a semi-direct democracy. The Prime Minister and Members of Senate are elected via single transferable vote and proportional representation respectively (and separate from one another).

Provisions and provided to the Senate Forum are scrutinised by the Senate to see if they are constitutional and protect the freedoms, equality, democracy and other human rights of the nation. If approved, they will be put under a direct vote (referendum); a direct vote requires a turnout of at least two-thirds of the population (officially described as 65-70% of the population) along with a simple majority. If this is not possible, it will be voted by the Senate. Constitutional amendments and modifications require a two-third majority.

Branches of Camden

Under Chapter 2, Article 1-3; it is declared that the "The system of government of Camden must be based on the separation of legislative and executive powers." . The branches of Camden consist of the legislative branch, ran by the Parliament and its singular house the Senate; and the legislative branch, ran by the Royal family.
