The Ontarian Socialist Federative Republic, more commonly known as Ontario, is a micronation that claims small patches of land in the Canadian province of Ontario.

Etymology

The word "Ontario" comes from the Iroquois word “kanadario”, meaning “sparkling” water. This makes sense, as the Province of Ontario (not the micronational entity) has many rivers and lakes.

History

On the 18 September 2022, Logan Ferguson wrote a formal declaration of independence for his residential enclave from Canada. The motivation behind his secession stemmed from the dissent towards the policies of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the monarchy, particularly the House of Windsor. The meticulous planning for this act of self-determination transpired over several weeks, culminating in the drafting of a constitution for the newly envisioned entity, named Corwin, on the 25 October.

The formal proclamation of the independent status of the People's Republic of Corwin occurred on the 28 October 2022. Subsequently, on the 31 October, Ferguson instituted a transition to a monarchical system within Corwin, only to revert this decision the following day. This abrupt alteration resulted in a localized civil conflict between proponents of the monarchy and the existing governmental structure.

On 19 November 2022, Corwin aligned itself with the United Socialist Republics and assumed the status of a member state within this larger political framework. However, strains emerged in the relationship between Ferguson and Terry McKeen. Characterizing McKeen as a "tyrannical Nazi scumbag" with controversial views on age of consent and accusations of deceiving leftists with a superficial red coat of paint, Ferguson forcefully proclaimed the independence of Corwin from the USR. In January 2023, Ferguson drafted a bill of Union with other Socialists, forming the UMSR.

On 19 December 2023, Corwin unified with another small unnamed micronation project in Ontario to form the Ontarian SFR.

Ferguson secession attempt and reformation

On 4 December 2023, Logan Ferguson became Provincial Governor of Breuckelen in an uncontested election. Controversies ensued as he changed the flag and declared martial law on December 16. Amid criticism, he declared a "dictatorship of the proletariat" and threatened to suspend elections. Facing a vote of no confidence, he was unanimously ousted by Breuckelen citizens. Anticipating this, he resigned, renounced Faltrian citizenship, and rebranded the Communist Party of Faltree into a secessionist movement. By 17 December, Ferguson had halted his undermining attempts and rebranded the USMR using ground work of the now defunct movement, but it would later merge into the OSFR.

Ontario has a national news network called OSNN (The Ontarian State News Network).
