The Flag of the Kingdom of Aspen is a horizontal bicolor with a Nordic Cross. The design and colors of the flag originated in the first banner of the Aspen Empire, a vertical bicolor of red and gold charged with a black eagle. The colors also originate in the coat of arms of the House of Susquehanna.
Design
Civil and State Ensign
The dimensions of the Aspen flag are 5:2:9 horizontally and 4:2:4 vertically. The colors of the flag are officially established as Crimson, White, and Gold.
Military Ensign
The triple-tailed Aspen flag is used as the military ensign of the Kingdom of Aspen. Its overall ratio is 1:2. The flag is also used as the Aspen naval jack. This variant may or may not be charged with the Aspen eagle. The flag represents the command conferred by the monarch and is flown by all branches of the armed forces and the Ministry of Defense.
Royal Standard
The Aspen Royal Standard is an official flag of the Kingdom of Aspen, it has identical colors to that of the Aspen flag with a crimson field with a gold border charged with a gold crowned eagle and four gold fleur-de-lis. The Aspen Royal Standard may also be charged with the achievement of the Aspen coat of arms, a dexter lion rampant or charged with a pearl argent.
History
Flags under the empire
The first Aspen flag was a red and gold vertical bicolor, this flag, however, was short lived and was soon replaced by the horizontal bicolor with a gold crowned eagle surrounded by a laurel wreath in the canton. The Bicolor flag, designed by former Chancellor, Bryce, set the standard of a horizontal bicolor for aspen flags that followed. The second flag had a ratio of 2:6 and was the longest used of all flags used by the Kingdom of Aspen. The horizontal bicolor remained the flag of the Kingdom of Aspen until June 2020 after the collapse of the first Aspen Empire.
