The Chamber of Deputies or Chambre des Députés is the legislative organ of the Social Republic of Montpellier. Its roles is the redaction, evaluation, debate and vote of the laws, according to the Constitution. Redaction, because the Governement or the Deputies can propose a law in the Chamber. Evaluation, because of the constitutionality and utility of a law. Debate and vote because it's the role of the Parliament.
Composition of the Chamber
-The Speaker of the Chamber, who make sure that the talking time of each deputy is respected and which is impartial.
-The Governement, who is the Executive power representation in Parliament and have the power to dissolve the Chamber.
-The Deputies, who are 10 members elected by the citizen for a 2-years mandate
Voting system
According to the Constitution, the deputies are elected by all the citizens at the party-list proportional representation, for one year. The Speaker of the Chamber is elected by the deputies at the first meeting of the Chamber, and can be elected just one time.
Rare procedures
In certain cases, the Chamber can put the Governement in minority. The Governement has 2 choices : reform a new Governement with all parties in the Chamber, or resign and then the Chamber can be the Executive Power for 1 to 3 months.
