The Republic of Alrovia is a micronation founded on May 23, 2019 by Jacob Marsh, with the Alrovian Constitution being ratified on that date. It declared independence the next day. It is a highly libertarian country, with the ideals of Self-determination, Freedom, and Free Market. It claims one piece of territory in the U.S. It is officially a federal republic, however, it is governed as a libertarian dictatorship.
Etymology
The name "Alrovia" comes from the English word "Rove". An "Al" was then added to the beginning, and "ia" to the end signify the name of a place.
History
The first instance of the usage of both the name "Alrovia" and the Alrovian Flag were on April 1, 2019, with the creation of a CityState save game with the Alrovian name and Flag on Jacob's personal computer. On an unknown date, but presumably the 23rd, a Minecraft world was created with the same name.
On April 23, 2019, the Alrovian Constitution entered its first draft.
On May 20, 2019, an Instagram account by the name of "offical_alrovia_ball" was created, managed by Jacob. It is a Polandball account, featuring the adventures of Alroviaball.
On May 23, 2019, the Alrovian Constitution was completed. It named Jacob as the President of Alrovia, as he was the only member of the micronation at that time. Due to a provision in the Constitution, he then immediately became a de facto dictator.
On May 24, 2019, the day after the ratification, Alrovia declared independence from the United States of America. Its Declaration of Independence cites widespread government corruption, suppression of individual liberties, and an overregulated economy.
Government and politics
The Republic of Alrovia is a Federal Republic, however, due to its small size and population, as well as a provision in its Constitution, it is a unitary dictatorship. The President has all executive, legislative, and judicial power compiled onto himself.
According to standard governance, the President would have the power to only appoint people to government jobs, and the legislature would make laws.
Law and order
All law and order in Alrovia is currently managed by the President.
According to standard governance, the 2 high courts, domestic and constitutional, would settle lawsuit claims and claims that a law is unconstitutional, respectively.
Foreign relations
Alrovia currently has no relations with other micronations or macronations, however, it aims to become allies or at least on good terms with as many political entities as possible.
Military
Alrovia currently has 1 active military member, the President. The equipment of the Alrovian Military is confined to a Swiss Army Pocket Knife.
Geography and climate
Alrovia has a Humid, Subtropical climate, characterized by hot, wet summers and cool, dry winters. There is moderate rainfall throughout the year. There is no definitive dry or wet season.
