The Republic of New York is a self-declared sovereign state that currently is not recognized by any UN Member States, thus being considered as a micronation by external observers. The Republic is located in southeast Michigan, specifically Macomb County. It consists of 7 counties across the United States, with territories in Canada and Antarctica. Its total land area is 7.22 km (2.79 sq. mi). The capital is Northwest Warren, and the largest and most populous city is Monticello. The Republic of New York declared its independence on 18 September 2022 as an illiberal democracy. Since then it has transformed into a progressive democracy. The official languages are English, French, and Yorkian.
Etymology
The origins of the Republic of New York's name originated from the fictional country of the Independent Republic of New York. However, on 8 August 2022, the name was changed to the more simplified name of the Republic of New York or R.N.Y to represent unity. Ever since then, the name has stayed the same and there are no plans to change it again. But, there have been some proposals like changing it to the Republic of North or Greats Lakes Empire, although these ideas were rejected.
History
Early history
Before the existence of the republic, multiple nations claimed its land. The modern-day republic was originally inhabited by Native Americans before being displaced by the United States of America in the 1760s.
Pre-micronationalism
In April 2022, A concept of a better New York was formed, created by the multiple problems facing the city. With a series of articles, the basis of the Independent Republic of New York was formed. The Independent Republic of New York was officially created on 16 April 2022 with an official flag and some form of government.
Early Era
Liberation of current RNY territories would not begin until 2022, with the territories consisting of the North Atlantic, and smaller claims from Jefferson County, which would later become Hamilton County. After this, the Republic would liberate other territories such as Sullivan County, which later became Hudson County.
On 28 August 2022, The Independent Republic of New York changed its name to the Republic of New York and adopted a new flag. The idea of the republic grew enough to eventually become an independent micronation. On 18 September 2022, the Republic of New York officially formed after the president claimed a small territory from his house and his school. The Republic of New York eventually formed a central government. Nafe A. became the President, and Mckennon Trottier the Vice President. During this period, the country's growth was limited, it had 10 Discord server members, and no recognition from any other micronation
Period of Growth
The Republic of New York officially formed relations with the TDC Empire and Pantonia. TDC was the first ally of the Republic of New York, which marked a growth in the Republic's history. The population grew rapidly, and the first established city was Southwest Warren (Now: Northwest Warren), which later became the Republic of New York's capital. The Republic of New York's population went from 12 to 190 within 1 month. The first regional election began in December in order to give more representation. 4 people were elected to the RNY Congress. Rapid growth continued when the Republic of New York's Discord server reached 100 members on 26 December 2022.
The dispute of North Warren
The North Warren Dispute started on 27 November 2022 after the Goat Republic (Now the Banana Republic) Separated from the Republic of New York to create an autonomous micronation, claiming 30% of North Warren. The dispute resulted in the Woodland Wars in which the Banana Republic was weakened and kicked from the capital the conflict ended after neither side could advance. The conflict largely resulted in the Republic of New York's victory.
Continued Development Era
By the beginning of 2023, the Republic of New York slowed down, yet 4 colonies were integrated into the republic. Over this time, the Republic of New York began to create its own culture and nationality, including democratically endorsed Nationalism. Over time, the Republic of New York gained more allies, those being UncleJakeyjake Island & Colonies and the Semi-Constitutional Monarchy of Candrea. During this time there were multiple threats by senators of Faltree to start an internal conflict with the Republic of New York, yet none followed through. This timed period was dubbed the Republic of New York Cold War, as no side fought. In February, the Republic of New York formed relations with the Kingdom of Salanda. In March, the Republic of New York gained one more senator, by the name of Kwaj. The Republic of New York constitution also began to be worked on, and basic foundations have been settled, yet the entire constitution wasn't been ratified. Around this time, the official language was being created, called Yorkian, which is a combination of German, Spanish, and French. The Republic of New York passed a centralization act that helped form several counties, which united areas more. Around mid-June, a conflict started with a micronation named Cornland. The Republic of New York became involved when Cornland declared war on its allies and the nation itself. This resulted in the Anti-Cornland Conflicts which lasted for about 3 month.
2023 Republic of New York Senate Elections
The Republic of New York 2023 Senate elections were for a vacant seat in the Republic of New York senate, the candidates being Kwaj, Xulff, Gojo, and AVER. They all ran for the seat, with the final results being 63.6% for Kwaj, and 18.2% for both Gojo and Aver.

The Woodland War was a conflict between the Goat Republic and the Republic of New York. The conflict first started on 2 May 2023 after they declared independence and seceded which prompted an immediate response from the Republic of New York. A skirmish occurred in the capital and the Banana Republic failed to capture the capital so they were pushed out by the Republic of New York Armed Forces. The conflict itself became frozen as the Republic of New York could not advance into the Banana Republic's capital and soon ended after 1 week. The conflict itself was mostly a success for the Republic of New York as they weakened the threat and stabilized the government. There were no casualties or loss of land on either side.
New Developmental Era
By mid-June of 2023, government centralization would begin, and colonies would be dissolved and merged into either counties or territories. Throughout July numerous laws were passed including a budget proposal and a new constitution being created. The Republic of New York joined a new micronational alliance United Micronations, and formed relations with the New Californian Reich, Curnon, and the Empire of Shahawkia. During this time the TDC Empire and the Republic of New York strengthened their relations with the TDC Empire protecting the Republic of New County of North Atlantic in New York City. It also formed relations with the Empire of Shahawkia with them later becoming allies. Major reforms in the Republic of New York Armed Forces were carried out with divisions being formed in order to keep units more organized. Military recruitment also began with 7 people joining the cyber forces mainly against Cornland in the Anti-Cornland Conflicts. The Republic of New York made a more modernized and organized version of NHTO replacing the name with Association of Northern States and flag being changed. Political parties within the Republic of New York got modernized logos, with 3 new political parties forming.
The micronation La Sereyard joined the Republic of New York as an autonomous region on the 29th of August 2023. Shortly after that, an economic boom happened throughout the country with the East Macomb Trading Company earning revenue and contributing to 3/4 of the GDP. Chuckbucks also made an economic recovery in the County of North Atlantic, boosting the county's GDP. Several laws and decrees were passed by the RNY Congress including an anti-corruption law. The Republic of New York gained new lands such as Tyrim County, and the port city of Rockfall Point. Tyrim County was later merged into the East Macomb County. Government activity started slowing down around mid-November, and it started picking up once again around late November. Several new laws were passed during this time and an official military doctrine was created. Several minor land gains have been made in several RNY counties, and the GDP has grown significantly.

Sub-divisons
RNY is divided into three different types of regions: counties, territories, and autonomous regions. Counties are integrated areas with a permanent population and are entitled to representation in the New York Senate.
Counties are required to have a County seat, which serves as the de-facto capital city of each respective county. Every county is represented by two Senators, depending on the population if it is under 20 people then 1 Senator will represent it. [5]
Territories are areas of New York that are not yet integrated, and all territories lack any permanent population. Territories are not entitled to any representation in the New York Senate. Each territory has a regional leader to oversee the territory. If the territory maintains a stable population above 2, it can be integrated as a county and receive representation in the Republic of New York Senate.
Autonomous Regions are autonomous areas, meaning they have their own congress that can separate laws. Autonomous Regions are entitled to representation with 1 or 2 senators depending on the population. The Autonomous Region is required to have a capital city in order to function. They are typically created if an existing micronation wants to join the Republic of New York but wants to maintain autonomy or a county votes for it.
