Foreign Relations

Main articles: Foreign Relations of Journal World and Melvian-Deegan Talks

Isaiah Deegan's copy of the Freedom Plan. This was the political program of Melvian Che's Free Liberal Party of Ambazonia and was co-authored by the two men.

Journal World's foreign relations for much of its history were almost non-existent, and even today it remains largely minimal. However, since 2022 Journal World has attempted to break out of its isolated bubble. The major watershed moment for this new route came on September 3, 2022, when Isaiah Deegan, acting in his role as Mayor of Journal World, had a series of talks with a politician from Ambazonia. The man's name was Melvian Che, and he had come from Cameroon to North America, specifically the United States, with his wife so she could continue her schooling in medicine. Isaiah encountered Melvian in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania, and Melvian told him of his life story and experience in Africa with the Cameroonian government and about the fight Ambazonia was dealing with. He told him about how he ran an organization to help the young kids in Cameroon and Ambazonia receive an education. He then went on to tell about his plan to run for office to become President of Ambazonia when the country won its war and held elections. However, Melvian had no political program or party, so Isaiah offered to help him form one. This began to Melvian-Deegan Talks, which involved Isaiah helping Melvian form a political party and program. The party would come to be known as the Free Liberal Party of Ambazonia, and their program would be called the Freedom Plan. Melvian would show all of what was made in these talks to his wife and his friends, and they would state that they liked what was made. Melvian would then thank Isaiah for everything, and they would slowly part ways. It is not entirely known what came of these talks, but this entire event has been a source of pride and is used as a justification that the nation of Journal World fulfills all of the requirements listed in the Declarative Theory of Statehood.

Flag

Original drawing of the flag of Journal World, which, like many of the nation's historical artifacts, is stored in old boxes and desk drawers.

The flag of Journal World was designed on March 14, 2016. It is a grey banner that is twice as wide as it is long. The flag ratio is 3:5, which is the official measurements gathered from the drawing, which is 3 inches tall and 5 inches wide. The flag's canton takes up 2/5 of the flag's width and 1/2 of the flag's height, as in the drawing. There are nine stars in the canton, which are all arranged in a very random order, similar to the flag of the Vermont Republic's flag, though when the flag was made the Vermont Republic's flag was unknown to Isaiah Deegan, who designed the flag of Journal World. The official flag dimensions are 3 feet wide and 5 feet tall. The flag is grey while the canton border and the nine stars are black. There is no meaning to the chosen colors or the stars. The design was simply thought to have looked nice. The stars have now come to symbolize disparate peoples living in chaos, while the canton border is the government bringing these peoples together as one.

Culture

Religion

The official religion is Catholicism, with the national church being the Journal World Catholic Church.

Music

The nation has three patriotic songs that were made by messing around with three duets Isaiah found in a music practice book he had in 4th grade. They were called "First March", "Second March", and "Third March" respectively. First March was made on November 1, 2015, Second March was made on November 25, 2015, and Third March was made on December 2, 2015. They all follow the same formula. The person who plays the notes played on the top half of the song would then play the notes on the bottom half, while the person playing the notes played on the bottom half would then play the notes played on the top half of the song.

Geography

Journal World is small, being about 5,000 square feet in area. It is 100 feet long and 50 feet wide. This is half of what is considered the "historical" territory that was originally occupied by Isaiah Deegan and his family on July 30, 2009, which is believed to have been the date his family bought the house which now contains Journal World. The lot in question was exactly 10,000 square feet, according to old listings of the house on the internet. As such, Journal World claimed half of that land, which makes it 5,000 square feet in area. It is believed the lot was 200 feet by 50 feet, so Journal World became 100 feet by 50 feet.
