List of States in Schpecktenia

Schpecktenia has had some form of states since the Second Republic of Schpecktenia. In modern Schpecktenia, states have more rights and abilities. As of November 2023, there are eight states, Meadowen, Vineland, Shadowfoxia, Seglaeghn, Stallion, Hawth-Koufax, Metbir, and Texas. Every state has some representation in the Schpecktenian government, more specifically either the Convocation or the Grand Assembly.

History

The first kind of proper states existed as provinces in the Second Republic. There were three provinces, Shadowfoxia, St. Charles, and Monroe. Each province had their own military and governors, called Lead Province Directors. Historically, this system wasn't perfect, and lead to Luca Tallerico to declare independence from Schpecktenia in the Two Days War.

After Schpecktenia was remade in the Imperial Federation, provinces were replaced with regions. Regions are similar to states, but didn't have specific voting laws. Regions have their own laws, militia, leaders, and flag, same as modern states.

Rights

States have two sets of qualifications, one for voting rights and one for semi-independence. Sovereign states typically have the label of Republic, while non-sovereign have the labels province, duchy, etc.

Emb-States

Emb-States are states which have the ability to elect state representatives to be a senator in the Grand Assembly. Currently, 75% of states are Emb-States. The prefix Emb comes from the Lakewoodish word Emƃɛƴhd, directly translating to "Civil Voting."

Con-States

Con-States are states which have leaders in the Convocation, and can appoint one officer from their state to be in the convocation. As of November 2023, only Meadowen and Vineland are in the convocation with no appointed officer.

Sovereign

Sovereign states are states that want to be independent from Schpecktenia but not completely. Sovereign states are independent with laws, military, and government. Sovereign states remain with Schpecktenia so they do not have to deal with foreign affairs and to avoid laws in Schpecktenia that they don't agree with. So far, the Province of Metbir is the only state considering being a sovereign state.

Only one state in Schpecktenia history has been a sovereign state, the Republic of Hillsboro. This state existed from 5 October 2022 through 28 October 2023. The Republic of Hillsboro transitioned into the Province of Seglaeghn and gained a southern exclave.

Non-Sovereign

Non-Sovereign states make up every state in Schpecktenia. Along with sovereign states, they can have their own militia, but have to unite with the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit in times of war.
