Ran DB is an American micronationalist who was the founder and 1st and only president of the Republic of Besonia from 30 July 2022 to 18 September 2023, and the Emir of the Islamic Emirate of Besonia, though he has been involved in some forms of micronationalism back to early 2021.
Personal life
Not much is known about Ran DB's personal life apart that he was born around 2007-2008 in California. He was raised by his parents, his father of English-Lithuanian descent, and his mother of Finnish descent. He was raised atheist by his parents, although his mother is somewhat spiritual.
On 23 April 2023, Ran DB converted to Islam.
Micronational life
Besonea/Besonia fictional roleplay nation
In April of 2021, Ran DB and his friends created an online fictional nation that was named Besonea. Besonea would eventually be renamed to Besonia, which is the current spelling of Besonia. Ran DB never became president of this roleplay nation, and power shifted between Neil "Oggy" and "Moo". Besonia, a month after being renamed, gave a full name, the Republic of Besonia, for the democratic government in Besonia. After fleshing out a government, with the last government officials being appointed on April 7 2022, Besonia went into a period of inactivity, with rarely any messages, and the monthly elections having at most two votes.
Republic of Besonia (July 2022–September 2023)
On 27 July 2022, Ran DB declared the Republic of Besonia as independent, distinct from the prior Republic of Besonia that was fictional. This marked the independence of the micronation of Besonia. The day after, Ran DB started an election in the still inactive Besonia. This election only got a single vote, with Ran DB not voting. As this vote was for him, on 30 July, he declared himself President of Besonia.
Around August 12 2022, Ran DB joined the World Micronational Alliance (WMA), one of the two predecessors of the Micronational Peace Alliance (MPA), along with the United Front Against Warmongers (UFAW). Ran DB would later become President of the MPA.
On 13 November 2022, the Empire of Cronic, a founder of UFAW and later a founder of the MPA, and thus long-term ally, would break out into civil war. Ran DB and Besonia would be the first micronation to declare war against the Anti-Monarchy Organization (AMO, the rebels in the civil war), apart from Cronic. The civil war would be the only war that the Republic of Besonia would be apart of, though the following government after Besonia would participate in another war.
In November 2022 and February 2023, Besonia would be attacked by rebels, initiating armed conflict, injuring one rebel. These two incidents were sparked by the same rebels, although in different locations, the former being in California, and the latter being in Norway. Ran DB would personally fight in these two conflicts, being punched twice in the chest, ultimately being the one to injure the rebel, after using a weapon that was heavier and harder than Ran DB expected.
