The Prime Minister of Almoa is the head of government in the Kingdom of Almoa and leader of the Almoan cabinet. The prime minister is styled formally as "The Right Honourable" and informally as "Mr/Madam Prime Minister" and diplomatically as "His/Her Excellency". The office was established on 7 April 2023.
Role
The role of the prime minister includes but is not limited to:
- Chairing the Cabinet
- Leading the Legislative Process in Parliament
- Publishing the Government's Legislative Agenda
- Nominating Ministers for Office
- Nominating Senior Church Ministers
- Nominating People for Honours and Peerages
Election
The prime minister is officially appointed by the monarch. The monarch has the power to appoint whomever they wish to office, even if they are not a member of parliament. However, the prime minister is usually the member of parliament who can command the most confidence in parliament - normally the leader of the party or coalition with the largest number of seats in the house of commons. Because of this convention, parliament can nominate the individual they would have the most confidence in to the monarch.
Oath of Office
When appointed to office the incoming prime minister is asked to take the oath of office. The oath of office is as follows:
"I, [Full Name], swear by almighty God that I will faithfully serve the Kingdom of Almoa in the office of Prime Minister, uphold all laws and faithfully execute the duties of the office in which I am about to enter".
