The Midwestern Union, officially the Midwestern Union of Independent Nations, is an economic and military micronational organization located in the Midwestern United States. The organization accepts members from each of the Midwestern States, including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The organization is governed as a mixed intergovernmental directorial parliamentary confederation, headed by a Chairman/Chairwoman, currently Michał I of Valenowa (provisionally), and a President of the Midwestern Congress.

Structure

The Midwestern Union is controlled by a primary legislature called the Grand Council, which is subsequently divided into an upper house (the Midwestern Council) and a lower house (the Midwestern Congress). The Midwestern Council is headed by a Chairman/Chairwoman, who works in conjunction with the head of the Midwestern Congress, called the President. All judicial affairs of the Midwestern Union are handled by the Intermicronational Court.

Council of the Midwestern Union

The Council of the Midwestern Union is the upper house of the organization's legislature, and manages all foreign affairs, law proposals, cultures, public relations, and civilian infrastructure. The Council consists of 1 representative from each member state, typically the nation's respective leader, with the primary officeholder, the Chairman of the Council of the Midwestern Union, being elected by Councillors every two years.

Congress of the Midwestern Union

The Congress of the Midwestern Union is the lower house of the organization's legislature, and sees to internal affairs such as voting for law proposals, military operations and maintenance, taxation, and elections. The Congress consists of 4 representatives of each member nation, and are either elected or appointed for the position by their respective leader(s) every two years. Member states may choose not to participate in Congressional affairs.

Defense

Though the Midwestern Union is not classified as a military alliance, it does maintain a small military contingent that loosely operates under the Midwestern Central Command, which is provisionally headed by the Armed Forces of Valenowa.
