The Makianian (Mack-ee-onion) Constitutional Republic (MCR) claims to be a simulationist-secessionist state that is not recognised by any nations, giving it the status of a micronation. It is governed by a democratic government with a senate and congress,
It was established in 2018, and was a hereditary monarchy before the reformist protests in 2019. Due to the king abdicating, it turned into a democratic republic.
Etymology
Makiana derives the first half of its name from a name generator, and the second half from a random name the founders came up with.
Another theory is that Makiana was inadvertently invented when the founder tried to say “MacDonalds’ onion” but messed it up so badly it became the name of the country.
History
Joke nation
Makiana was founded as the Epic Kingdom of Makiana (partially as a joke) In September 2018. The state was very volatile and was subject to several name, government and flag changes. Some of these included:
-RPG (acronym unknown, September 5-September 6)
-A two month hiatus
-The Makianian Soviet Socialist Republic (MSSR) (November 19-November 21)
-The Empire of Makiana (November 21- November 22)
-Second RPG (November 22-November 22, three hours)
-one week hiatus
-Makianian Dynasty (November 29-December 3)
Finally, the creator settled on a Kingdom, which was founded on the fifth of December, shortly after the Makianian Dynasty was dissolved and after a two-day hiatus. It was at this time that the Reformists started calling for democratisation of the micronation.
After three months, the Republic of Makiana was created in March 2019, and started to attract more citizens. The kingdom did exist as a rump state but was absorbed by the republic after just one day of existence.
Democratisation and establishment
Three days later, the First Republic of Makiana was dissolved and put on hiatus. In the resulting crisis, the president founded the Second Republic and reestablished the republic for good. Major civil reforms took place and a full time military was formed.
Politics and government
The republic is run by a constitutional senate and overseen by congress, comprised of delegates from each province (currently only one province). The senate is composed of county representatives and the two political parties: MAKCOM (communist) and the liberals.
Law and order
There are usually low crime levels in Makiana, but the police system usually keeps a tight leash on all crime.
Foreign relations
Isolationism is the republic’s current foreign policy, and it does not maintain alliances or relations with other micronations. In recent weeks however, the newly elected president has adopted a policy of “relations via publicity,” planning the day of the micronation’s entry into the Micronational Assembly to coincide with the micronation’s founding.
It intends to join many Intermorgs, and gain publicity in order to become a well-known micronation.
Military

The MPLA, or Makianian People’s Liberation Army, is the main military force. Despite having “People’s” in its name, it has no relation whatsoever to communism or socialism. The only reason being that someone (the joint chief) came up with the very original idea of naming the army based on the DEATH TO THE MPLA meme. I know, it’s stupid. The MPLA does not have a navy or Air Force, and sources their equipment from gel blaster companies and websites selling old German, Soviet and French WWII gear.
