Moshchny, formerly Lavansari (Russian: Мощный, Лавансаари; Finnish: Lavansaari; Swedish: Lövskär) is an uninhabited Russian island that is claimed by the Socialist Republic of Livonia in the eastern part of the Baltic Gulf of Finland. The island is located about 130 kilometers west of St. Petersburg, 90 kilometers southwest of the city of Vyborg, and 40 km east of the island of Gogland and administratively belongs to the Kingiseppsky District of the Leningrad region. About 25 kilometers southeast of the island is the Kurgal Peninsula.
The island is composed of two parts connected by a narrow sandy beach about 300 meters wide. Both parts of the island are quite low and with very indented shores and overgrown with dense pine forests. In the southern part of the western island there is a large lake which is rich in fish, especially in perch, red perch and pike. The total area of the island is 13.4 km2.
There are three lighthouses and a heliport on the island.
Although the island is uninhabited today (with the exception of the technical staff in the radio base), in the past there lived a significant population of Karelia, and the largest number of inhabitants was registered in 1923 . year, when the island had 1,338 inhabitants.
