The Greater Metro East War was a major conflict in the Greater Metro East. The war started when the Schpecktenian Province of Drost declared independence as the Empire of Taydrostia. It was unknown to Ruby I, the president of the Imperial Federation of Schpecktenia, that the region became independent. On 27 October 2023, Aydin Fisk I of Taydrostia claimed land to expand his empire, but the land he claimed was in Schpecktenian and New Prussian territory. Aydin I informed Ruby I of his independence, and the two nations decided to coexist peacefully. Ruby I then noticed the territorial issues, and demanded that Aydin I give up the land. Aydin I refused, and Schpecktenia and New Prussia declared War.

The conflict had restarted several times, with a reformed Empire of Taydrostia fighting against the new government. Schpecktenia and New Prussia alongside with South Meadowen fighting both the Empire of Taydrostia and Schpecktenia and New Prussia.

After the surrender of all major Taydrostian leaders and the defeat and total destruction of all organized resistance from Taydrostian forces, the war ended on 12 March 2024.

First Front

Attack on Schpecktenia

Ruby and Luka sign battle plan.

Taydrostia had formed its own military, with one unit named the 13th Taydrostian Rangers. Immediately upon declaration of war, Taydrostia launched a massive invasive campaign of mainland Schpecktenia. They quickly annexed the Province of Plum Woods and gave it back to Illinois, then invade the Province of Behrens. Schpecktenia responds by sending the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit to northern Schpecktenia, but Taydrostian forces retreat.

This prompts Schpecktenia and New Prussia to have a more formal meeting in the Duchy of Seglaeghn, in which they formed a proper plan to take out Taydrostia and get Fisk to sign the Halloween Truce. Unfortunately, Taydrostia would not follow the truce, and enter the Province of Shadowfoxia. This was where one of the conflicting land claims was in, and why Schpecktenia fought so hard during the First Front. Taydrostia violated the truce by entering Schpecktenian land to burn documents and place a helmet on a stick to scare Schpecktenia. The bad news for Taydrostia was that Schpecktenia was already on the way to confront them.

Shadowfoxian Border Incident

Schpecktenia had a great upper hand in the First Front because of espionage. One member of the Taydrostian government never took the movement seriously, and easily gave Schpecktenia information about the inner workings and plans of Taydrostia. So because of this, Schpecktenia got word of Taydrostia’s document burning in Shadowfoxia. The 24th KDB set off for Shadowfoxia, and arrived just as Taydrostia left. They retook the land, but also thought the helmet was a person, and fired upon it for an unclear amount of time.

Halloween Truce

Because of Taydrostia’s actions in Shadowfoxia, the Halloween Truce was discarded. Schpecktenia and New Prussia decided it was a good time to start their plan of liberating non-overlapping land claimed by Taydrostia. The joint forces liberated all land claimed by Taydrostia except for their mainland and the Province of Atlas. To combat this, Taydrostia finally went on the offensive and invaded the Bahgorpa Colony a second time.

Schpecktenia and Taydrostia met to discuss a final solution to the war. After much arguing and deciding to continue the war, they decided to fight directly in Shadowfoxia instead of in public land. The 1st Imperial Rifle Unit and the 4th Stallionisch Infantry would fight the 13th Taydrostian Infantry, and New Prussia’s Reichsarmee wouldn't join until much later.

Battle of Shadowfoxia

Schpecktenians after the last skirmish.
Michael Scholz POV of being captured.

Not fully prepared, Taydrostia sent a sniper team into Shadowfoxia, and the 4th SI would close in on the sniper. The Schpecktenian forces sent out a small patrol to find the sniper’s hiding place, and after minutes of aimlessly wandering, return back to camp. The Schpecktenian forces spotted the sniper running in the open across the lake and fired upon him, and they 4th SI would chase after the sniper. The sniper managed to take out two Schpecktenian soldiers, ending the first skirmish.

The second skirmish started when the 1st Imperial Rifle Unit got back from a supply run, only to find that the Taydrostian forces took out the 4th SI and overrun the camp. The 1st IRU hid in the thick woods, waiting for backup. Several minutes later, the 4th SI is replenished, and the Taydrostian forces retreat. The sun was setting, making it harder for combat. The Schpecktenian and Taydrostian forces would have a prolonged gunfight, and Taydrostian soldiers were taken out. Finally, Schpecktenia would advance, and take one prisoner, Michael Scholz. At this time, Scholz hadn’t really done anything besides being the military general, but he was not an important figure to Schpecktenia, so he was released.

The last key Taydrostian claim besides their mainland was the Province of Atlas. Schpecktenian forces entered the province on November 2nd, but were repelled by Taydrostia. Schpecktenia would make a second attempt and completely took Atlas. Taydrostia was tired of losing, so they launched Operation Stoney Creek. Taydrostian forces entered the Schpecktenian mainland, in hopes to do what they did in the beginning of the war. With their increased soldier count and a second unit, they were able to attack two locations at once. Luckily, Schpecktenia was able to quickly counteract the attacks, driving away the Taydrostian forces.

Fisk's Arrest

Schpecktenia had had enough of the war, and wanted an easy way to end it. The Federal Criminal and Detective Ministry found that Aydin Fisk was still considered a Schpecktenian citizen, and created a warrant for Fisk’s arrest. He was officially wanted for Solicitation, Battery, and Treason. In good timing, the official that had been giving Schpecktenia intel left Taydrostia. Schpecktenia’s FCDM worked with the official, and created a plan to arrest Fisk and end the war. The plan was to have the official convince Fisk that she would rejoin the nation, and then Fisk would be captured and Taydrostia would be dissolved.

On the evening of November 6, Schpecktenians would travel to Syktoria, Taydrostia. The Schpecktenian forces parked a block away and let out the official to get Fisk out in the open. After several unnerving minutes, Fisk finally steps outside to talk to the official. Schpecktenian forces break towards Fisk, tackling him, and then restraining him. Schpecktenia held its second national court session. Fisk was tried with the crimes mentioned before, and was sentenced to physical punishment. The physical punishment was like a firing squad, but with airsoft. Fisk took it well, and then the two leaders talked about the future of Taydrostia.

Last Battle

Unbeknownst to Schpecktenia, Scholz was in Syktoria during Fisk’s capture. The Taydrostian forces got together and quickly exited Syktoria, and departed for one last skirmish in Shadowfoxia. Schpecktenia called upon New Prussia to handle the situation, but in the mean time, Schpecktenia would take Fisk to the Duchy of Seglaeghn.

New Prussian forces arrived in Shadowfoxia, catching the remaining Taydrostian army unprepared. At first, the Taydrostians repelled New Prussia quite well, mainly since the sniper from the first skirmishes was well hidden. New Prussia spotted the sniper, and was able to take him out. Now without their flank guarded, New Prussian forces quickly moved towards the Taydrostians. In the span of about ten minutes, Taydrostia was completely wiped out, securing Shadowfoxia back in Schpecktenian control.

Dissolution of the Empire of Taydrostia

Ruby allowed Taydrostia to continue as a micronation, as long as a few things were addressed. Firstly, the dictatorship must be replaced with a presidency. Fisk understood, and promised to have elections in the future. Secondly, a proper government had to be put in place. Taydrostia was to have a legislative system, and with that a few new political parties.

A few days later, a constitution was written for the Republic of Taydrostia, and its system was practiced. Schpecktenia and New Prussia celebrated the victory of the Greater Metro East War, and Taydrostia was allowed to be free and independent. Schpecktenia made sure that Taydrostia was isolationist, mostly because Schpecktenia didn't want Taydrostia to know that their government was very much identical to Schpecktenia’s.

Interwar Period

This period of nothingness was mostly undocumented, up until the first wave of uprisings in Taydrostia. Taydrostia would officially use a shed in Syktoria to hold meetings and store documents.

First Uprising

South Meadowen propaganda during the civil war.

A few Taydrostian peoples wanted to rid themselves from isolation, and try to ally with other micronations, but this would go against Schpecktenia’s plan of keeping Taydrostia unaware. Schpecktenia met with Fisk again, but decided to change Taydrostia a little more. Taydrostia was still isolationist, but the government was to be overseen by Schpecktenia. Taydrostia was forced to rename itself into the Republic of South Meadowen, and be a Schpecktenian puppet.

People were very upset, but one person wanted to change this. Michael Scholz, a previous military leader of the Empire of Taydrostia and the Vice President of South Meadowen, started the Organic Party of South Meadowen, which would try to make South Meadowen its own culture and be free from Schpecktenian control. At this point, South Meadowen was extremely puppeted by Schpecktenia, so the laws attempted to be passed by the Organic Party of South Meadowen was suppressed by the Schpecktenian government. Scholz would try to change South Meadowen laws one more time to help the Taydrostian people be independent, but the laws were denied again.

Scholz was very upset, but an official of Schpecktenia stated that South Meadowen was not ready for total independence, which was right. South Meadowen still had not had proper development, most citizens of South Meadowen didn’t really know how to run the new nation. So, being that Michael Scholz and Aydin Fisk were the only ones capable of running the nation, the suppression of South Meadowen felt really unfair. Basically, half of the government was not ready to operate, and the half of the government was really one person.

Taydrostian Civil War

Scholz still could not agree with this control, and formed a political group called the New Independent Taydrostian Movement. Originally, NITM was only to be a peaceful protest, but the group started to evolve. Scholz being the leader, he appointed leaders like Gregory Bard and Samuel Pont. Scholz informed Bard and Pont about how Schpecktenia was controlling South Meadowen, but with much bias. The two followers fully supported Scholz, and the three would officially declare independence from South Meadowen.

Attacks on Syktoria

Map of South Meadowen 12 December 2023.

Later that day, NITM launched an attack on South Meadowen. NITM entered the South Meadowen governmental shed and destroyed several documents. Aydin Fisk himself drove away the NITM forces, but a few treaties with Schpecktenia were still destroyed. South Meadowen was upset with NITM, many people did not see a conflict between Taydrostians as something to become real. Still, the 2nd Syktorian Rangers would prepare for more attacks. Fisk wanted to solve this issue peacefully.

NITM would attack South Meadowen again, but now South Meadowen will retaliate. South Meadowen soldiers fired warning shots once the NITM forces got close, scaring them away. Despite this, NITM would control a small amount of territory in South Meadowen for most of their conflict.

Negotiations

Fisk held a meeting with Scholz to try to resolve the conflict. The meeting was undocumented, but it is known that following an intense argument, South Meadowen decided to fully go to war with NITM. Shortly after the meeting, another battle in Syktoria would commence. This time, the quick attack would turn into a full battle. South Meadowen expected an actual war with NITM to be fairly quick, since NITM still wasn’t ready to be a nation. NITM’s forces, who were heavily experienced in fighting since the Battle of Shadowfoxia, were surprisingly destroying South Meadowen. NITM effortlessly drove South Meadowen away, one Syktorian Ranger even surrendered to join NITM. The New Taydrostia clearly had an upper hand in combat.

First Fighting in Vaughn

Propaganda against NITM.

Soon after, NITM claimed the South Meadowen Province of Vaughn, stating that it belongs to NITM since Scholz originally founded the province. South Meadowen would show recorded proof that the territory was actually founded by Alison Regner, who also started the Vaughnese Secessionist Party. Despite this, NITM forces went and annexed the province. South Meadowen soldiers would also leave for Vaughn to retake it.

South Meadowen’s 2nd Syktorian Rangers arrived in Vaughn and saw no enemies, and it was seen as an easy victory. Just by the pond to the south, NITM soldiers were spotted. NITM was way more prepared for combat, with actual protective gear and electric airsoft weapons. Along with the equiped NITM soldiers, the Province of Vaughn had many trees and ditches. It was clear that a battle for this land would be nothing like the battles in Syktoria.

NITM charged, leaving the 2nd SR disoriented and without any defensive positions. After a nearly half hour long battle, South Meadowen would retreat out of Vaughn. NITM had the rest of the day to build up a small fort in the center of the Vaughnese woods. The Battle of the Vaughn would see the most fighting of the Second Front, and the battle wouldn’t end until much later.

Involvement

Schpecktenia was aware of the Taydrostian conflict, but wanted to stay out of it directly. New Prussia on the other hand, was really striving to get involved and take over both NITM and South Meadowen. Schpecktenia hoped that the civil war between South Meadowen and NITM would resolve itself, but President Ruby still consulted Aydin Fisk. Fisk stated that he did not want to fight NITM, for they both were still Taydrostian.

In the morning of the 12th of December, just two days into the Taydrostian Civil War, New Prussia would make a statement. "To both sides in the Taydrostian Civil War, by order of the Kaiser, you are to lay down your weapons and allow New Prussian forces to keep the peace and occupy your cities. You face no chance against us, you have 24 hours." Despite Schpecktenia’s stance of being peaceful, they were very supportive of New Prussia.

New Prussian Involvement

After the 24 hours, New Prussia decided to take Vaughn. NITM only had one person that was to stay in the fort in Vaughn for as long as possible, leaving all the land they had taken pretty much up for grabs. New Prussia entered Vaughn, and took much land. They got all the way up to the start of the woods when the NITM soldier fired upon them from the brush. New Prussia retreated slightly, and held a defensive position.

One more NITM soldier would arrive in Vaughn, and they would begin their offensive. NITM had a better military than South Meadowen, but stood no chance against the strong New Prussian army. Once the NITM soldiers were close enough, New Prussia finally had the chance to use their experimental Nidhogg Gas. The gas wasn’t really harmful, but it definitely scared away NITM. New Prussia would move all the way into NITM’s territory and destroy parts of their fort.

Second Front

Scholz was extremely furious with NITM’s defeat, and he had heard that Schpecktenia had made New Prussia follow Schpecktenian orders, which was entirely false. During the evening, NITM entered Schpecktenia and tore down their flag in the Schpecktenian capital, another act of intimidation toward Schpecktenia. The next morning, Ruby and her brother Vernon Specht, who is the Governor of Vineland, found that their flag had been forcibly taken down. Ruby saw this as a direct attack towards Schpecktenia, and Luka and her would officially declare war on NITM, starting the Second Front.

Battle of the Vaughn

Map of Vaughn 13 December 2023.

Now with the support of Schpecktenia and New Prussia, South Meadowen had the confidence to take some unguarded land in Vaughn. NITM had been preparing for a second conflict with Schpecktenia and New Prussia for weeks, and sent warnings to all the other powers. The video sent was of very poor quality, overdramatic music, and included NITM’s national anthem, which was a horrible piece of music that shall never touch the ears of Man again. The warning was disregarded as a poor attempt of a scare tactic. NITM was starting to go down a road of decline.

Now in Vaughn with New Prussia having much land in control and Schpecktenia starting to take land, South Meadowen would set up a small outpost in the bordering Province of Bradford. It is unknown if New Prussia was just unable to distinguish South Meadowen and NITM or if they had a deeper motive, but New Prussia had fired upon South Meadowen soldiers and their outpost in Bradford.

The Battle of the Vaughn reached a turning point after the New Year, with Schpecktenian forces absent entirely and Taydrostian presence to a minimum. New Prussia took the opportunity of the stalemate to launch a major offensive. Taydrostia retreated all forces from Vaughn on 25 February 2024, leaving much territory to be annexed by New Prussia. The Battle of The Vaughn officially ended once New Prussia announced victory.

Christmas Truce

It had started to get colder now, and South Meadowen and Schpecktenia had slowed their advances in Vaughn. NITM remained in Vaughn, but were not prepared for cold weather. New Prussia was equipped with winter clothing, and was able to drive away NITM forces and take more land. Taking advantage of the weakened NITM military, Schpecktenia annexed the New Tower Colonies.

At this point in the war, Schpecktenia was focusing on language, New Prussia was focusing on sports, South Meadowen was still making governmental improvements, and NITM had to form the government completely. Transcending all of that, everyone was ready for the holidays. All the powers signed the Christmas/Yule Truce, halting all fighting until the 29th of December.

In the period of no-combat, NITM was gaining more citizens and South Meadowen was losing citizens. Fisk still did not have any desire to fight NITM, but wanted to remain on good terms with Schpecktenia.

Fall of South Meadowen

As soon as the Christmas Truce ended, NITM launched a last attack on Syktoria. The remaining three South Meadowen soldiers, including Aydin Fisk, fought hard against NITM. NITM had time to plan this last assault on South Meadowen, and Syktoria along with the Schpecktenian backed government fell in just ten minutes. Fisk and the remainder of South Meadowen had no choice but to fight with NITM against Schpecktenia and New Prussia.

Third Front

After the major victory, NITM and South Meadowen went back to Vaughn. With New Prussia losing some of their taken land, they secretly sent the PMC Wotan. Wotan is more of a secretive military unit, and Schpecktenian officials are planning on interviewing a Wotan Officer in the near future. Wotan has been used in many New Prussian wars, and was created for the Schpecktenia-Liveno War. To put it simply, Wotan is extremely trained and seem to have their own plans, slightly independent from New Prussia.

End of Vaughn

Wotan made it into Vaughn, planning to do significantly better than the regular New Prussian Army. NITM held a defensive position, and after a longer skirmish, two NITM soldiers surrendered. Throwing all rules and expectations followed by all parties of the Greater Metro East War out the window, Wotan fired upon the surrendering NITM soldiers.

Days later, and a stalemate again is in full effect. On the 20 February 2024, reinforcements specializing in counter-insurgency and saboteur hit-and-run operations arrive in the battle. The New Prussian 1st Special Forces Group "Alpha" handled the forests of Vaughn, while the 501st Panzergrenadiers assaulted the heavily fortified trenches, which were dug out and reinforced over the winter.

Unable to handle the unexpected raids by the mobile and mechanized forces, Taydrostian Commander, Gregory Bard, ordered the retreat from the Province of Vaughn. PMC Wotan was hired for an additional contract, sending in the Slavic 3rd Mechanized "Kolovrat Battalion" to scout retreating forces, and to engage in small scales. The 12th Heavy Infantry Shock Division "Jomsvikings" encircled the retreating Taydrostians and engaged, inflicting casualties before the Taydrostians could break through.

Battle for New Prussia

On 28 February 2024, Taydrostian Civilian Militias (2nd Syktorian Rangers) launched a large scale terror attack against New Prussia, entering New Prussia without supply lines, firing bottle rockets and firecrackers at the homes of known New Prussian officials, and shooting at resistance faced. On 26 February, the Provincist Republic of Schpecktenia announced military support. After the failure of the offensive, and the total destruction of the NITMs Armed Forces in the attack, Michael Scholz and Aydin Fisk surrendered to New Prussia, deciding to leave Micronationalism entirely.

Invasion of Taydrostia

Schpecktenians after the invasion.

After the Taydrostian Invasion of New Prussia was won by New Prussia, the leaders of New Prussia and Schpecktenia quickly structured a plan to use most of their military to fully defeat Taydrostia in one quick operation. This late-war tactic was seen as a success in the War of the First Front and capture of Aydin Fisk.

On 4 March 2024, New Prussian 5th Infantry Division enters the South Meadowen Province of Bradford and easily take all land; while Schpecktenian 24th Klature Security Brigade enter unorganized South Meadowen fields. This was done to trap any possible Taydrostian forces in one condensed zone, separate from the rest of Taydrostia. Once it was safe, the New Prussian 11th "Achlys" Chemical Weapons Brigade enter the taken Province of Bradford. While New Prussian and Schpecktenian forces were pushing south, the Schpecktenian 4th Stallionisch Infantry enter the unorganized land in the north, preparing to move further into South Meadowen. At this point, Taydrostia finally organized the military and deployed the 13th Taydrostian Infantry, 2nd Syktorian Rangers, and Taydrostian Nationalist Militia. New Prussian 5th Infantry and 11th Achlys set up defense and support for the upcoming skirmish. Schpecktenian forces then pushed east, taking land, while the New Prussian forces extended their line farther north. Taydrostian forces retreat to behind the Goshen Trail in valleys formed by a creek.

The 4th Stallionisch Infantry now prepared to push into South Meadowen and go against the Taydrostian 13th Infantry and 2nd Syktorian Rangers. Before 4th Stallionisch advanced, New Prussian 11th Achlys provided Chemical Weapons Support. Once the Nidhogg Gas hit, Taydrostian forces were overwhelmed by the 4th Stallionisch and were forced to retreat. The 4th Stallionisch Infantry suffered zero casualties while the Taydrostian forces lost 3. The Schpecktenian 1st Imperial Rifle Unit and 24th Klature Security Brigade along side New Prussian forces went against the 13th Taydrostian Infantry and Taydrostian Nationalist Militia in Erscholstia. The militia received reinforcements of 3 soldiers, but the Taydrostian forces were forced to retreat all troops to behind the Goshen Trail. New Prussian 5th Infantry begins to join the ranks in preparation for the next skirmish. Casualties on both sides were low, but Taydrostia lost a great amount of land.

All of Schpecktenia's forces along side the New Prussian 5th Infantry, 12th Jomsvikings, and 501st Panzergrenadiers in an urban setting against the remaining Taydrostian forces. In the north in South Meadowen, the Taydrostian forces retreated to join the troops in Erscholstia, leaving the 4th Stallionisch Infantry to take a great amount of land in South Meadowen with no resistance. The rest of Schpecktenian and New Prussian forces launch a massive offensive and advanced north, only facing 4 casualties. Taydrostian forces retreated back to Lakewood Ct., but were all taken out, leaving Gregory Bard alone with no support. New Prussian forces then captured Bard and took him as a prisoner of war.

Aftermath

Schpecktenian and New Prussian officials met with remaining Taydrostians and signed the Treaty of Meadowen on 12 March 2024. Since the entire war lasted five months, everyone was sick of the conflict. the signing of the treaty was a short-lived event.

Schpecktenia and New Prussia jointly annexed Taydrostia and South Meadowen equally. Schpecktenia converted annexed Taydrostian land into non-sovereign colonies, preventing any chance of another revolt or conflict.
