Lamartment (Officially the Lamartment Republic, sometimes referred to as Objectilia or Martiland) is micronation located in a small apartment in New York, United States.

The nation, founded as a democracy started by Monty Davis as a small and revised idea of a former republic, and went into affect in a park in December 1992, claiming its independence from the United States on the 12th of the year. Growing from exposure from visitors to the area and local family. The area the nation started as was known as Lardy, but the city has since been decommissioned by the nation.

Since the fast boost of economy since the 90's, the nations exports largely relating to topics of technology have lead it to become revolutionary in tech to the local community, and quickly rising its population, from being only 800,000 in 1998, to almost 6.6M in 2023. In the time between '98 through '08, its population grew 4x its amount. Modern day Lamartment focuses on brand new tech for its citizen and tourist to marvel at relating to the millennium act of 1999. Many problems sprouted in the 21th century for the nation, including economical warping, rebelism and short government instability. In more recent years, its economy could plan to be come as much as a micro island nation possibly.

History

Early Days

The early days of the nation were revised from an idea of Martiland, the technical micronation predecessor to Lamartment, it started as a simple idea for a new sovereign country inside the United States. Monty Davis, who came up with the idea settled for its name on December 9th, 1992; naming it Lamartment. 3 days later, he founded the nation in a small park in NYC. He referred to it as Lardy, being the only city and capitol of it at the time. Because of the location and lack of real administration, a new city was founded in his apartment and short backyard of it, being called Blockstat in 1993.

Expanding through out, the mainland of what Modern Lamartmert is settled on was founded as a city in 1995 with no official name yet, intill naming a window ledge as the city of Windowsillville, leading to the decommissioning of Lardy. In 1996, founder Monty Davis resigned as president, leaving it to a vote between his few friends. Out of 13 votes, his closer friend won with 8 out of the 13, electing him as next president. With that, more cities were named and by 1998, 8 cities were named and governed.

The same year, instability was rampant in the small nation, due to disputes about areas being govern and how much time it was taking up and how strict the governing was. This lead to the infamous 1998 Lamartment Protest, where multiple people associated with the micronation protested around multiple cities demanding change and the explement of areas. About 60 people put there ideas down for how the problem could have been solved. The protest lasted for 10 days through March 2-12th of 1998. It lead to the redesign of the nation and new rules regarding area disputes and time being put into it.

Inching closer to the new millennium, major changes were put into for the nation regarding most of the government under President Jacob Damon in his 2 year term, being the first president to serve 2 terms. Multiple acts, the main being the Millennium Act of 1999 visioned the nation future into the 2000's and beyond. Including allowing more historical items and memorabilia to be archived, saved and protected.

New Millennium

With multiple acts and bills being passed in preparation for the 2000's, the nation ready itself. Passing new internet safety, historic perseverance and nation-wide cleanup laws. In the 2000's the place recovered from some of its issued faced in the 90's. These were prepared in the newly enacted Banner Laws, that would defy goals in a country for the decade. The first election of the millennium took place on October 4th, 2000, with 5 candidates. Joseph Alverez, a Lamarti politician won the election and was sworn in on December 20th, 2000. Under a new act made in 1999, it abolished the 1 year term for presidents, and made it into a 4 year-3 term system. (4 years for 1 term.)

Joseph Era

Throughout his first term, President Joseph signed in new laws ordering the expansion of infrastructure and tourism, allowing more visitors to come. Providing a safe space and healthy economy for the nation was his found goal. In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks that happened nearby, Joseph allowed more security measures to protect against malicious visitors, and an Air Quality Act, helping prevent harmful dust swarming the apartment.

Through 2002-2004 he visited many people living by, seeing how the effects of the nation lead on to neighbors and residents, at that time however a few longtime citizens departed from involvement the nation, making Joseph spend extra time managing everything. In 2003 a attempted "assassination" attempt was done against Joseph, when in a meeting with others, was served food laced with crushed apple seeds. The food item was disposed after the discovery of the substance. The perpetrator was never truly found, but President Joseph did not care too much as he did not want to cause unrest, but was reportly shaken up by the incident.

Joseph's 2nd Term was earned by him winning the 2004 election, gaining 80% of the votes. He pledged more ways to help out the nation, including improving on his past effects and meeting with Founder Davis to bring updates to the nation. He provided a new visitor and immigration law, including trying to help out in the Afghan and Iraq war, by allowing Refugees from anywhere into the nation for help. Disasters like the 2004 Bridge Collapse and the 2005 Collapses of structures in cities led to new regulations of building safety.

In 2005, the nation was involved in controversy with another rival micronation, formed by a past member of Lamartment, disputes went on for a few months between April-July. A few members of Lamartment in support of a possible breakaway state in the nation, started a campaign of a rebellion with support of the rival micronation, and in August, a civil war broke out after members of Lamartment attacked the rival-backed rebels in the night of August 8th. The war lasted only 13 days, with a agreement by the rebels to give up, the rival micronations apartment was destroyed a great amount, then president Joseph saying "its only fair" with the regions of Lamartment occupied and nearby receiving damage as well.

In 2006-07 he visited over 120 different people about the nation, issuing memorabilia, mew currency and badges and awards for citizens and longtime government officials. In the wake of the death of the nations founder on November 12, 2007, past officials came by to say remarks and remember him. A national mourning period was issued in the week after, news spread about his death quick, many saying it was heartbreaking and they wish his family and friends well. Donations were accepted to cover the cost of services. The national Memorial Service for Monty was held on November 20th lasting for about 5 hours. It was attended by over 150 people. He was buried the next day.

Having extremely good perception by citizens, more longtime citizens left however, including newer ones quicker. But they had great receptions of Joseph before they left. In his last election in 2008, he secured it having 91%, being the highest percentage of votes a nominee has ever gotten. This was his last term that he could serve. Being very chill and visiting more in the 2009, he left his opinion about the future of the nation, saying it was becoming pretty hard to manage it, bringing more reasonability to other government officials, who the pool of was shortening. Welcoming a new decade in the 2010's, the newest region of Lamartment was created, Barth, the farthest west region.

The Banner laws from the 2000's expired, so new ones set on goals of improving technology and tourism key parts of it, and the new decade meeting took place on February 1st, 2010.

Through 2011 and 2012, Joseph planned to ratified a new version of the constitution, that would be put in effect beside the original one, it could be modified by new presidents in the future, and was dependent on ideas from other officials at the time. This cause small debates about the legality about it, but was soon put in effect.

In his final year in office, Joseph met with multiple people discussing the permanent future of the country, and departure for many longtimers. His last duties was simply managing and overviewing the nation, while other officials took some control. Joseph responded to the August 23rd Incident, were a crazed couple started fighting and throwing large items out of a apartment, some striking nearby ones, including the nations. It effected Scanvia and Tork, bringing minor damage, he assured the safety of the nation then.

The 2012 election included only 3 people, and Joseph visited his final official on November 29th. The new president, Davis was sworn in on the 20th, Joseph departed from office, with a note stating his achievements in the nation and his final messages.

Modern Day

Through 2012-2014, the new president followed on many of the ideas and laws passed by former president Joseph, including providing more transit and education laws. By this time in the nation, most members left only leaving a small pool of about 8 officials, who would chime in a few. Most moved far away or nearby, and would visit to see the updates made. In mid 2015 the president became subject of controversy after a set of new laws and constructions in the nation, that would border it from other neighbors, and slow down people visiting. It was condemned by many past members and current ones. In the same year, a armed person from the Damourn region with sparklers attacked 3 officials who were or former related to government who surveyed the region. And also caused damages to structures in the nation. President Davis condemned it and called it "complete ridiculousness" The perpetrator was caught and charged with assault. The 3 officials attacked left the nation afterwards, only 1 returning to make visits, via calls.

Throughout early 2016, the newer laws which also slowed down work and functions to everybody in the nation cause tensions to rise in the government, although new bills were being passed to help out, controversy aroused in Damourn and the Government. 1 official from the nation stated how so many attackers and bad people all conjugate around the region, and how much it was becoming problematic. And how officals sent to survey the area would be attacked, verbally or physically. This eventually lead to intervention by the government, with troop items and more surveys being conducted in the region. This also soon lead the movement to be called the War or Conflict In Damourn, when attacker groups in the region fought back. This made relations between the area deteriorate quick.

Nearing the 2016 election, President Davis planned to rerun for election, improving on acts by creating new divisions that would help manage improved services like Police, Military, Education, and Travel but would most likely be managed and controlled by the future leaders. At the time, the election and Census revealed the lowest participation of officials in a election. Having only 12 take part. Davis lost the election by 4-8, and President-Elect Darius was sworn in December.

Late 2010's

The new President Darius helped free new spots for government officials during the 2017 mayoral elections, and in general, but most old members ended up leaving. The new high ranking member of the nation was under the name Charlie, and other family served in spot of ranks in the government. Through 2017-2019, the President ordered new acts to combat climate change and waste in the nation, including improving on the entire process. This was planned so the environment for education would be safe and clean. New structure building laws made it easier to gain materials and build.

The conflicts in Damourn continued, and failure to come up with a way to stop attackers was a big issue in the nation, and it put national security at risk. Laws were passed to help prevent a possible attack on anything, but attacks still continued, but in smaller manners.

A large economy boost effected the nation in 2019, with rates of HDI being increase massive amounts. Boost of infrastructure and factory making expanded sales of goods. The nation improved its relations with nearby neighbors, and declared its relations to the US, Mexico and Canada to be "Supreme". Massive projects were put for review and planning to be constructed in Shineland since it was becoming the biggest economic powerhouse in the nation. In late 2019 scandals arouse after documents surrounding Damourn revealed how corruption played a big role in Mayor Jaynale being elected, and the background of her, which revealed she was a former member in a attack group.

The 2020's

The Banner laws expired at the start of 2020, ordering new ones to be created and last until the end of the decade again. They followed a similar tone to the former ones, but some were replaced with climate change and development. The decadal meeting of the 2020's was set to take place in February, but was pushed back due to members needing more time, it was pushed back again due to the arrival of Covid-19 in New York City to April 7th. Lockdowns were put in place by NYC in order to combat the virus, forcing remote communication, but the meeting was still planned to be in person, only with about 5 people.

Anti-virus measures were signed by President Darius in order to combat it, since information about it was not all trustworthy and new medical equipment was being shipped in. The meeting was held with masks being required, and the topics including much of the banner laws. A agreement to completely revolutionize the development of the nation was made, and was signed. As Covid-19 spread more throughout New York, and cases rised, a Lockdown was put in place in the nation for a few days after, to make sure nobody contracted anything.

Civilian unrest sparked later in 2020 after the Death of George Floyd, which President Darius made a statement about. He lead the nation on a anti-racism campaign from late May to Mid June. Later on, the government improvised meetings to handle Covid, and in the summer of 2020, lead the Lamarti Olympics inside, instead of outside. It focused on self help and recuse. Darius condemned the cleaning of the nation by other relatives, that destroyed some historical structures and geography in the nation, stating it was reckless and done without cation. Darius and other officials order only they can clean and interact with personal items.

Through his final few months in his 1st term, Darius slowed down on the Covid Response, which had a huge effect on development in the nation, despite that, he still ran a small campaign to possibly be reelected for the 2020 election, but later made it clear that his interest slowed down for the nation and would maybe departure permanently. Charlie, a high ranking official ran for office against Darius and another opponent in October. The election had a higher participation then the last, including 20 people. Charlie secured the winning votes, with a 13(C)-3(D)-4(0).

Early 20's

President Elect Green was sworn in with a large celebration, and took office as the youngest person to do so. Charlie planned to get Lamartment "through the pandemic era crisis" by ordering small developments again, as the pandemic died down in the apartment region, and in the nation, the threat of it died down, although hand washing and mask were still required exiting and coming back in early 2021.

In 2021, proxy battles between Damourn rebels and the Lamarti Army escalated. Green condemned the unalerted removal of items marked as historical by rebels, and participated in defensive battles in Damourn.

In the aftermath of the February 22-23 attacks, the most violent attack in Lamarti history which damaged structures in lower Martiland and destroyed much of the greater-mid Windowsillville area, Green made a statement in the same night, stating how deadly they were and the perpetrators would be brought to justice. Immediately the attacks were considered to be have dealt on purpose, and new information and evidence linked it between Damourn and the government. But didn't fully accuse the region until they wouldn't mention it and tried to deny it. This quickly and heavily worsen relations between the region and the government, and from late Febuary-late July, many proxy attacks and battles took place, this including the destruction of protected structurers.

The economy of Lamartment was heavily effected, and the nation entered a recession in June of 2022, slowing many functions of government, in late June a meeting was held with new officials getting involved about ways to improve the economy, all were temporary.

On July 27th, The Lamarti Government invaded Damourn, in a mission to "destabilize and liberate and subdue" Damourn attackers. The invasion was the largest military operation of Lamartment in almost 2 decades. It lasted for almost a month and resulted in mainly, Attacker Victory. Because of the wars abrupt ending due to natural disaster and no real official treaty signed to end it, it was labeled "No Victory" even though attackers still flourished in the area, though mainly, attacks stopped ending the longer conflict between region-government.

The attacks of February left Lamartment in a massive crisis, which severely effected development. Plans to rebuild the effected area in Windowsillville were made but were all delayed because of the lack of materials. Later in 2022, the government produced heavily security measures meant to protect historical and protected items were enforced, threating sanctions if the demands were not meet. During the Lamartment Deep Freeze through December 26-29th, the lack of heating cause unrest, intill new funding and fixing provided heaters. During the New Years Celebrations of 2023, President Charlie made a visit stating how the nation would prevail out of these extremely tough times, and would defend to safe the nation.

In 2023, Economy reliving bills were passed to improve the droughted resources of the country, and for much of early 2023, was focused on trying to develop. In March, a new air quality law was enacted, and in April, the Lamartment Government and Charlie stated that the nation is out of the crisis, for a limited amount of time. Though longtime issues still plagued the place and were attempting to get a permanent fix.

On May 25th an induvial, invited by the leader of the Supreme Court

In the summer of 2023, Lamartment entered a second recession, after months of economical decline, at this time, work and labour were increased massively in order by new laws ordering fast rebuilding.

Geography

The nation lies generally flat land, but is hilly semi-mountainess and mountainess across large regions, mainly in Damourn and Shineland which have the largest mountain ranges. The climate of the nation relies a lot internally, with temperatures being very consistent over many months. In the summer, cities near open areas receive hotter temps in the afternoon, which intensify at its peak then. In closed climates, the heat can generally reach large amounts as well. In the winter, the temps drop a large amount, resulting in much colder winters with the same effect that causes hotter summers. Despite that, hot temps can still peak in the large open areas depending on the sun, and how clear the day is.

Biodiversity

Lamartment has very common nature and ecosystem, most of the present species that appear in the nation arrive in the spring and mainly summer. This includes multiple types of insects who are normally considered a nuisance. Lamartment had a large ecosystem perseveration in a few cities, the main one being Windowsillville, which had the nations largest plant reserves.

Elections

Elections in Lamartment take place every 4 years, since 1992 on the First Monday of October, known as Election Day, a federal day of importance. Counting of the votes take place on the following Monday, and are verified on the third Monday. More checks take place in November, and the President Elect is sworn in on December 20th, and January 20th.

In the history of Lamartments elections, Monty Davis served 1 4-year term out of the maximum 2, but then a new change was ratified, changing the presidential term to a 2 1-year term. This was eliminated going into the 2000's, changing it to a 3 4-year term. Despite getting a 2nd term in the nation being simple, getting a 3rd term is much harder, requiring the nominee to gain a 78%+ (formally 81%+) precent in total votes during elections to win. Only 1 president in the nations history has received a 3 year term, being Joseph Alverez (2000-2012) with 91% (highest ever) of votes.
