Riveria, officially the Federal Republic of Riveria is a landlocked micronation that claims territory completely surrounded by the state of Texas in the United States. It was founded in April 2021 by two then thirteen year olds Dameon Townsend, And Aiden Russell. Initially founded when Dameon visited his friend and recommended creating a country of their own. Aiden then suggested having it's territory in a large wooded area behind then residence nicknamed the "outback", even defining a capital city, Triple Towers. The micronation has a population of 44 people, making it the most populated micronation in the area.

Riveria has a semi-presidential government, it is headed by the president who has official executive duties who also exists along the prime minister, who leads the rest of the executive.

The micronation has inspired others within the area to form micronations of their own, usually with weird and perverted names, such as Ligmabutthole, (renamed to Pongu on 16 May) who has had negative relations with Riveria since the very beginning. Riveria has had more enemies than it has allies, it is unknown exactly why this is, however it was believed to be because of the dislike of the leader himself rather than the whole micronation.

Etymology

The micronation's Name, "Riveria" is a combination of the words "River" and the suffix -ia, with -ia meaning "land of", Riveria's name means "land of the river". This was chosen to allude to the Henrietta River, the "River" that flows through the territory. The Henrietta River however isn't actually a River, but a creek, but the leaders thought "Creekia" sounded too weird. Another reason is because The Henrietta Creek was also declared as a river.

History

Historical groups

Long before Riveria or its predecessors were founded, various tribes inhabited the surrounding area, such as the Caddos, Hainais, and the Anadarkos. As well as some groups of Cherokees, Muscogees, Seminoles, Wacos, and Kickapoos.

Origin

Riveria initially started out as two different groups, The Shattered Souls, and the Cyberstalkers. They were two organized collectives founded by the two founders of Riveria, The Shattered Souls by Dameon Townsend, and The Cyberstalkers by Aiden Rissell. The Shattered Souls was a "nice" gang, and The Cyberstalkers was a hacker group. While neither claimed any sovereign status as a country, they were the foundation of the republic to come. Both groups were allied with each other and started recruiting more members into both of these groups making them very popular among the other middle school kids. The Cyberstalkers was later abandoned and completely forgotten by it's founder by the time summer break came around, With the Shattered Souls continuing to exist until getting abandoned by it's founder not long after they founded Riveria. The Shattered Souls eventually got a new leader later on.

Foundation

The micronation was founded by the two in April 2021 expanding the "outback", a large wooded area behind Aiden's house. Riveria was initially founded as a republic. While it did not start out that serious and in any major activity format, the two used the micronation in online game platforms such as Roblox.

Going inactive and dissolution of the republic

Riveria went inactive not long after being founded. In summer of 2021 a model Minecraft world was created based on the micronation, which caused Riveria to later be described by its founders as an "inter-dimensional country", despite more or less being a fictionalized, larger version of it. The world was also later abandoned by the two creators when Aiden moved away to Missouri City at the end of December 2021. Riveria was reformed into the Kingdom of Riveria a few months before Aiden Russell moved away. at this time, Riveria was governed as an absolute monarchy. A fictionalized version of Riveria was used in a school presentation in early 2022 by Dameon, which described it in a more fantasy maner, such as the fictional principality of Equestria existing along side it. Riveria remained an absolute monarchy a long time after this.

First North Texas Micronational War

On May 2nd, 2023, it was discovered that Shattered-Lands ruled by the Shattered Souls, formerly lead by Dameon, have declared war on it's former leader and Riveria under the new leader, President Ryan Long. This conflict has resulted in the king recruiting citizens onto their side in order to have larger dominance than the Shattered Souls. Later on, another micronation, Pongu, declared war on Riveria after one of the Riverian citizens who was friends with the Co-Supreme Leader of Pongu was banned for treason after he was discovered to be working for the Shattered Souls. After this, the conflict was dubbed the "North Texas Micronational War" because Riveria wasn't just fighting the Shattered Souls. The Shattered-Lands dissolved along after one of its Puppet states, Ligmabutthole was annexed on 12 October 2023. On October 14, the Shattered-Lands officially dissolved. However the war continued on for another 16 days as the other Puppet state, Suckmaasshole continued to exist. Pongu was also forgotten and dissolved by it's founder on 27 October, ending their involvement.

New constitution

On May 3rd 2023, just a day after the North Texas Micronational War started, a new constitution was officially ratified, turning Riveria from an absolute monarchy to a semi-constitutional monarchy. This was because Riveria has never had a constitution and needed one. This was also because of Riveria being an authoritarian regime for a while, and the king wanted it to be a democracy, but still wanted to have some political power.

State of emergency

On 18 September 2023, the monarch of Riveria Dameon I declared a state of emergency for Riveria, suspending the parliament to focus more on the war, as well as there being no meeting place to make decisions, turning Riveria into a absolute monarchy.

End of the North Texas Micronational War

On October 30 2023 the day just before Halloween, The five month and one day long North Texas Micronational War finally came to an end after the Shattered-Land's former Puppet state Suckmaasshole officially dissolved, destroying the last remaining asset of the Shattered-Lands sphere of influence. This starts the Era of Peace in the Polarian Alliance.

Expansion

Just six days after the North Texas Micronational War ended, Riveria started expanding it's territory to the surrounding areas. They laid claims to some uninhabited spots in the Sendera Ranch area, including a couple of parks and a group of lakes. On this day the two regions of Lalalands and Sexzynation were founded by the two other citizens who helped Dameon I with the expansion.

Foundation of the Cyber-Lands

From 7 to the 9 of November, Riveria officially founded it's first colony in Gustavus, Alaska where the co-founder of Riveria lives. This colony is being administered by the Cyberstalkers hacker group which is yet to be fully integrated into Riveria as a state sponsored collective.

Second North Texas Micronational War

On 9 November 2023 just ten days after the first one ended, a second war started when a group by the name of J.T Jones, declared war on Riveria and the rest of the Polarian Alliance. This caused the monarch to send out more applications because of him dismissing his soldiers when the first one ended and needed them back. Three days later on November 13 Triston Jones threatened to Rape every Riverian and Dinglese citizen when the first week of December rolls around. Just two days later, he took back his threat, just after Dingleville declared inactivity until mid-December. On 16 of November, J.T Jones signed the treaty with Ohio Rizzland, another micronation that declared war on Riveria on November 15.

Dissolution of the Kingdom

In December 2023, a new constitution was drafted officially dissolving the Kingdom of Riveria and founding the new Federal Republic of Riveria. This was done because the monarch stated that his position did not align with his political beliefs. Dameon Townsend considers himself a Social Liberal or a Social Democrat, two ideology that don't normally fit with Monarchism.

Politics and government

Riveria's government is a semi-presidential republic, the president is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government. Riveria also has a parliament, and a cabinet, who is headed by the prime minister. It is a de facto been governed as an provisional like government under a temporary dictatorship since September of 2023 due to there being quick decisions to be made as well as there being no meeting place for the legislature.

Riveria became a dictatorship because of the then monarchy declaring a state of emergency and needed quick decisions to be made, this is was only intended to be temporary however. There are plans for Riveria to transition back into a democracy at some point in early 2024, but so far, no elections have been held.

Head of state

The Riverian President is the head of state of the Federal Republic of Riveria, is the sole representative of Riveria and it's citizens abroad and internally. He is has veto powers as well as the commander of the armed forces, can declare war with permission from the Parliament, and signs treaties with other micronations. The president is elected through direct elections by Riverian citizens and has a term length of two years with no term limit.

Head of government

The Riverian prime minister is the head of government of Riveria, government and the cabinet. The prime minister is also acts as the chief justice of all of Riveria. The prime minister is appointed by the president at nomination by the parliament. The prime minister may have a deputy prime minister if they so choose.

Legislature

The Parliament of Riveria is the micronation's de jure unicameral legislative body, it is headed by the prime minister. the parliament currently has no seats. All of them are going to vote on a new bill introduced by one of the members at request of any Riverian citizen. If the majority say yes, the bill will be introduced to the president who can either approve or decline the bill, making it a law or not. Like the president, the members of parliament have a term length of two years and can be re-elected with no term limit.

Suspension

On September 13 2023, the then monarch Dameon Townsend formally suspended the parliament in order to focus more on the war. The monarch does plan on reinstalling the parliament after the war is over or at least when they reach a major turning point. After the war ended, the monarch later president was unable to reinstall the parliament do to there being no meeting place.

Law and order

Currently, it is considered treason if any Riverian citizen were to be secretly working for the enemy(s) of Riveria, attending one of their meetings, or simply supporting them in any way possible. Anyone who breaks Riverian Law will be forced to watch the entire movie of Foodfight! from start to finish with no breaks. This was due to the film having such a low critic and viewer score that it would be considered a "punishment" to watch it. Permanent expulsion is also possible depending on how severe the offense is. A Riverian may also get a slap on the wrist for simple crimes. Some laws that exist are conversion therapy being federally banned to protect children, and a strict ban on littering to protect the environment.

Military

The Riverian Defense Force is the official armed forces of the Federal Republic of Riveria. It was originally formed on 15 may 2023, as the "Riverian Royal Defense Force" and every non-government affiliated citizen was drafted, The monarch however is the only exception already being the commander and chief of the armed forces. This was because of the two recent wars with the Shattered-Lands, being a very large demand for military personnel. Every member of the armed forces except the monarch were dismissed once the war ended, but later needed all of them back when J.T Jones declared war on Riveria.

Administrative regions

Riveria is a federation, it's administrative regions are given autonomy under the federal government, this can not be taken away by any means. Mainland Riveria is divided into three provinces, which have their own governors. The Outback region however is under direct administration by the Riverian government. The other two provinces are then further divided into smaller divisions, which may or may not be divided into further municipalities. The Riveria Province is only divided into municipalities. Riveria also has an overseas dependency, which has a devolved government. Riveria has only one autonomous region, which used to be a part of Lalalands until February of 2024.

Foreign relations

Riveria has had very little relations with other micronations, mostly due to the age of it's leaders and it's location. however, it's had some relations with other micronations and groups since it's foundation in 2021.

Treaty of Eaton

On 8 May 2023, Dameon I of Riveria signed the Treaty of Eaton and Emperor Adrian of Dingleville signed the other end, officially creating an alliance with between the two micronations. It is the first micronation that it has had long lasting positive relations with.

Other Relations

In 2021, when the Republic of Riveria still existed, it was allied with it's two predecessors, those being The Shattered Souls and The Cyberstalkers as they had the same two leaders. This relationship ended when the Shattered Souls as reformed into a white supremacist group under the leadership of Ryan Long. The Cyberstalkers still remained a non-micronational ally to Riveria until November of 2023 when it was integrated into the kingdom as a state sponsored hacking group.In early 2023, Riveria was in an informal alliance with Manajia, founded by someone the king knows, the actual relation however drifted away a few days later. Until it eventually picked back up again in August 2023 when the informal alliance was established again, when on September 5 2023 a request was submitted by the micronation to join the newly established Polarian Alliance. The micronation is yet to officially sign the Polarian Treaty and join it. After confidential information was leaked about the Shattered Souls and their plans to invade and annex Pongu, Riveria opted to allow them to join the Polarian Alliance in order to have protection from them. Riveria was a also allied with the rebels that intend to overthrow the Shattered-Lands government.

Recognition

Riveria currently has unilateral recognition with almost every de facto state. They recognize every country that functions as an independent country, this includes but is not limited to all United Nations members and it's observers, as well as Taiwan and Kosovo. Riveria also fully recognizes China as a country despite international law saying they could only recognize either Taiwan or China. Riveria also fully recognized the two breakaway states of the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic. Riveria fully recognized them as independent states until their annexation into Russia on September 30 2023. Riveria currently partially refuses to recognize the expansive Empire of D'visa, as they currently lay claim to Riveria and it's allies territory. However Riveria only doesn't recognize D'visa's claim on most of their territory. Riveria also refuses to recognize micronations that don't claim any sort of land because of the traditional idea of what a country should have.

Geography and climate

Being located in Fort Worth The Riverian climate is oceanic. There are streams and small ponds everywhere. it is generally cold in the winter and warm in the summer. The terrain is very grassy, with loads of large shrubs and plants as well as trees growing all over the territory.

Economy

Riveria doesn't have any major set up economy, every Riverian that has a job works for business outside of Riveria. Because of this, Riveria has been heavily dependent on foreign individual support, like on 25 may 2023, one of the business academy students offered business with Riveria to provide Riveria, with weapons, training, and overall financial support. The business agreement was intended to be finalized by the end of 2023, however this never ended up happening.

Demographics

Riveria is has the most members out of every other micronation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with a total membership of 45 people, some of which live outside of the state of Texas. Despite this, nobody actually lives on any of Riveria's land claims. The Riverian membership has greatly increased starting in 2023 with the start of the First North Texas Micronational War, with it's membership consisting of just two for most of it's existence.

Riveria is a very diverse micronation, with people from all different races and ethnicities, as well as national backgrounds. Riveria is mostly white, with roughly half of them being unsure of their of their full ethnic background. There are some mixed-race people that are predominately Mestizo, some belong to other mixed races, Like being half white, half Samoan.

Religion

Most Riverians consider christian, with a majority not considering themselves to belong to any spacific denomination. There is currently one Muslim and Jew. There are also some irreligious people within Riveria, the president himself is not affiliated with any religion. Riveria is officially a secular State.

Culture

Riverian culture is strongly influenced by Southern American culture, such as the living style of all of its citizens as well as basic holidays. Since about half of Riverians are Anglo-American, there is a very heavy Cowboy culture amongst it's citizens, predominantly the males. The Hispanic American Riverians have a Hispanic American culture to go along with the Anglo-American ones.

Holidays

Riverians celebrate basic holiday that is observed within the United States. One major important holiday to Riveria is Valentine's Day, signifying the loving of everyone around them, as love and inclusion is one of Riveria's primary ideologies. While not a holiday, Pride Month is also observed for the same reason Valentine's day is. Riveria also generally recognizes prominent religious holidays for it's citizens if there are citizens that follow that said religion.

National symbols of Riveria are a large aspect on the Riverian culture. Being symbolic representations of Riveria as a whole from it's people to its ideology.

Flag of Riveria

The National Flag of Riveria consists of a blue and white field with a red dot and a red intersecting cross. The blue representing the blue waters of the Riverian streams, white for purity of the world around it, and the red dot in the center with lines extending from it symbolizing power and influence expanding outward from a central point, that central point being Riveria. The flag was adopted when Riveria was still a republic, with the design coming from Minecraft.

National animal

Unlike many micronations, Riveria has a national animal; this was when Riveria was still a republic. The national animal of Riveria is the Water Moccasin, also called the Cottonmouth or the Northern Cottonmouth, this was chosen as the national animal in 2021. This is because one of the co-founders, Aiden Russell got bit by one while in the territory, So the two decided to adopt it as their national animal. This was also because the snake was Aiden Russel's favorite animal at the time.

Proposed symbols

Riveria has had proposed symbols in the past, one of which being a proposal for the pride flag being the co-national flag during Pride Month to signify the welcoming of everyone of every kind into Riveria. A vote was hosted on 23 May to decide whether or not to officially adopt it as a national symbol and which variant would be used. In the end, the vote was unsuccessful, due to there not being enough time to get everybody's vote, which was significantly slowed down by the Internal Conflict that started the next day.

The first flag of Riveria was created when it was a republic. It was originally created using pixel art, but was then recreated again in 2023, this time not using pixel art. The flag itself originally had no meaning, and just "looked cool".
