The Chief Justice of Athor is the senior-most judge in the Supreme Court of Athor and the Islamic Emirate of Athor. They are aided by the Vice Chief Justice and are 1 of 5 Supreme Court justices.
Appointment
The Chief Justice is formally appointed by the Monarch of Athor. However, Parliament may nominate candidates.
Role and Powers
As highest judge in the national judicial system the Chief Justice has some specific powers and roles:
- Judicial Review with the Ministry of Justice
- Nominating Supreme Court Justices
- Presiding Over Impeachment Trials of Government Ministers or MPs
- Working with the Grand Mufti to Ensure Laws are in Accordance with Sharia
