History

Since the beginning of the Arstotzkan Union, foreign and external affairs were mainly conducted by the President or other head of state. However, after the First Civil Conflict and during the 1st Post-War Period, the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs was created. An office which was held for many years by President and later First President Ethan Brinkman.

During a national reform, the offices of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Immigration were merged and became the office of Chief Ambassador of International Affairs of the Department of International Affairs and Relations. Ethan Brinkman remained as the head of international affairs.

By March of 2024 the Arstotzkan Federal Government wished to modernize the name of the Department of International Affairs and reformed the department into the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The position of Chief Ambassador was replaced by the Chairman of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was granted an official position on the Executive Committee.
