Ancient Kolniari is the name given to the era of Kolniaric history before documentation of events became regular. The term is most often used to describe the era between the start of micronationalism in Kolniari in July 2017 until the Sprinske Revolution on 30 October 2020, and the subsequent dissolution of the Sprinske Communist Republic. As documentation was not common at the time, very little evidence of the Ancient Kolniaric micronations still exists, and as a result, information about these micronations is usually very vague and dates given for certain events are often educated guesses. These micronations were isolationist, as globalism didn’t reach the Kolniari Sector until 2022.

Timeline

In June 2017, the future taoiseach of the Republic of Donkrea visited the city of Windsor, Ontario, in Canada. When he was there, he discovered micronationalism and decided to experiment with it for himself, creating the Windsor State. The nation didn’t have a name at the time, and is often referred to as the Windsor State in modern Kolniari. This nation is believed to have been created at some point in early July 2017, it accomplished nothing aside from being the foundation of modern Kolniaric micronations. The Windsor State unofficially dissolved when its president returned home to Scotland on 13 July 2017, and he brought with him the concept of micronationalism. Shortly after, Ancient Kolniari began. Nothing remains of the early Ancient Kolniaric micronations, most of them were short-lived experimental states with the purpose of testing different concepts. Only a handful of them were real secessionist states. Grassistan was the name for the earliest known micronation, it was a short lived state, and the only record of its existence is a translator for its language, Grassistani. The next state was known as Springaland, or Sprengaland as some records show. This nation was a socialist state, modern Kolniaric historians believe that this nation had a troubled history, it’s widely believed to have been engulfed in conflict since the beginning.

Republic of Donkrea

The Republic of Donkrea was the first Ancient Kolniaric nation to be somewhat recorded. The nation is believed to have existed from some point in 2018 until most likely 12 August 2020. The Republic of Donkrea was a socialist state, led by Taoiseach Aaron, the former President of the Windsor State. The nation was meant to be a democracy, but in practice, it was a dictatorship as there were only six citizens. The state’s flag was green, orange and white, based on the Irish flag as all of the citizens had Irish heritage. The capital city was known as Donkrea City, later known as Corneria under the Sprinske Communist Republic, and now known as Spritsnasque. Approximate in early 2020, a local communist tribe led by Zachary Stewart was formed. At first, the Republic of Donkrea took no notice of this. On his 11th birthday on 22 March 2020, Taoiseach Aaron travelled up to his caravan in the village of Lochgoilhead, in the Argyll region of the Western Scottish Highlands. The next day, Boris Johnson announced that England and Wales would be going into lockdown. Three days later, Nicola Sturgeon announced lockdown in Scotland.

In August 2020, after coming back to Donkrea, Taoiseach Aaron met with Zachary Stewart, and it was agreed that the communist tribe would merge with the Republic of Donkrea. This resulted in the Sprinske Communist Republic a monarcho-communist state, which Donkrea became a province of. Zachary became King Zachary I, and Aaron became Prime Minister.

Sprinske Communist Republic

The Sprinske Communist Republic is widely accepted to have began on 12 August 2020. This was the last Ancient Kolniaric nation, and also the most notable one. Much more is known about the SCR than any other Ancient Kolniaric nation. The nation was a monarcho-communist state, which quickly began making many of the typical communist reforms. Private ownership of any kind was banned, all possessions of the citizens would belong to the state, businesses especially were banned, and a 'secret police' was set up with the intention of making sure the citizens followed these rules. The secret police would sometimes use real violence such as hitting and kicking people to keep the citizens in line, and reported any rule breakers to the government. The nation had an appointed executioner, who performed mock executions which were mainly used to embarrass those sentenced, and deter people from breaking the law. As the nation went on, the laws became stricter and stricter, freedom of speech was massively reduced, where it was illegal to criticise the king, show sympathy to rule breakers, or show respect to capitalist nations. As the laws became more numerous, so too did the violence used to control them.

A public protest against the king which also demanded the dissolution of the secret police took place in October 2020. King Zachary ordered the military to shut it down, which resulted in a clash between the protesters and the military. This incident rapidly destabilised the nation, and reduced the King’s popularity.

On roughly 27 October 2020, Prince Gregor, King Zachary’s younger brother and heir to the throne, attempted to overthrow the government. He and a small group of supporters clashed with the army inside the Red Colosseum, where they defeated the disorganised army. Prince Gregor threw a banana at King Zachary, which hit him in the face, which earned the revolt the name The Banana Uprising. Then, Gregor and his supporters stormed into the empty palace and he was declared as King Gregor I. The army surrounded the palace, and the rebels were trapped inside. They were forced to surrender, and Gregor tried to flee, but he was later captured, and as a show of force, Zachary shoved the banana down Gregor’s throat, Gregor was saved after an adult intervened.

The Banana Uprising had destabilised the nation even further, and just a few days later, on 30 October 2020, the Prime Minister was selling plastic cutlery and fake gold chains made from Christmas tree beads. King Zachary and an army arrived to arrest him, as any form of business was illegal. The Prime Minister and his supporters marched into Corneria, where he resigned, and started the Sprinske Revolution. One of the rebels kicked King Zachary in the genitals during the battle, and he responded by chasing him and trying to attack him, but failed. At noon, the former Prime Minister met King Zachary to negotiate a peace deal, but the negotiations fell apart. Outside, the rebels had been clashing with Zachary’s army. The new Prime Minister, Blake Smith, staged a coup and overthrew Zachary whilst he was in the Province of Donkrea trying to get more support after most of his army had surrendered. King Blake I officially surrendered to the rebel leader at 14:58. The Treaty of Spritsnasque ordered that the Sprinske Communist Republic be dissolved, and split into the Sprinske Empire and the Imperial Republic of Donkrea. The rebel leader became Emperor Aaron I of the Sprinske Empire, which gained independence later that day, and the Imperial Republic of Donkrea declared independence the next day, officially ending the Sprinske Communist Republic.
