History

Elections Begin

On 29 August 2019, the 2nd General Election of the Norfolk Empire began. The 2nd General Election was begun to elect the second Prime Minister of the Norfolk Empire and to elect each of the four seats of the House of Commons, as it should under the constitution. The Royal Decree that was signed by HIM Emperor Jason Norfolk I two months ago says that citizens of the Norfolk Empire can start announcing their candidacy for the multiple offices on 29 August 2019, today, through 1 September 2019. That leaves citizens with three days, including 29 August 2019, to announce their candidacy for either position.  Besides the three citizens that have previously announced candidacy for the Office of the Prime Minister, which are HG Duke Iyan Seeker I (Green-Republican), Mayor Emmett Winters (Democratic), and Fmr. General Max Joseph (Moderate-Communist), no one is yet to announce a bid for the Prime Minister. HRM Prime Minister Duchess Dorothy Norfolk I so far has not announced a re-election campaign yet and will most likely not run again. HRM Duke Roger Bluetoski I was expected to run, but he declined the offer to run in this election, mainly due to personal matters. Tamcoopese President Tammy Norfolk also said she did not want to run again. HG Duke Iyan Seeker I of the Green-Republican Party is running on a platform of equality, Mayor Emmett Winters of the Democratic Party is running on a platform of equality and strong anti-taxation, and Fmr. General Max Joseph of the Moderate-Communist Party is running on a platform of Stalinism and anti-taxation. Besides the Prime Minister, the four seats of the House of Commons each have at least one candidate running, except for the 1st District of Bitty Ridge. For the 1st District of the Dellfolk, HRM Duke Roger Bluetoski I is running as a Green-Republican advocating for Environmentalism against HRM Duchess Jonelle Bluetoski I as an Independent also advocating for Environmentalism. For the 1st District of Bitty Ridge, no one is currently running, but HRM Duchess Dorothy Norfolk I is expected to announce her candidacy unopposed as a Green-Republican also advocating for Environmentalism. In the 1st District of New Tenochtitlan, HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I, a Green-Republican advocating for Environmentalism, Animal Protection, Equality, the continuation of the 5 USD Monthly Tax, and Fiscal Centrism is running unopposed. Then finally, in the 1st District of Seekeria, HG Duke Iyan Seeker I, a Green-Republican advocating for equality, is running unopposed. Each candidate received a campaign sign from HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I in a language of their choosing. Lots of candidates just re-used their campaign signs from the last election.[1]

First Debate for Prime Minister

3 September 2019, the first debate for the Office of the Prime Minister occurred at 13:00 GMT-4 between Green-Republican HG Duke Iyan Seeker I, Democrat Mayor Emmett Winters, and Moderate-Communist Fmr. General Max Joseph. The debate occurred in New Tenochtitlan, to be specific the southernmost part of the mainland of the District of New Tenochtitlan. All candidates were able to attend the debate. The debate moderator was HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I, who was in charge of organizing the elections. HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I had transcribed the debate for the Imperial Gazette and posited on to their website. In total, there were forty-nine questions asked.

HG Duke Iyan Seeker I proved himself to a more serious candidate, while Fmr. General Max Joseph and Mayor Emmett Winters proved themselves to be very unserious and unprofessional. HG Duke Iyan Seeker I answered questions more fully than both candidates.[2]

First Debate for the 1st District of Dellfolk Occurs

First Day of Voting

On 5 September 2019, voting for the 2nd General Election began with the 1st District of New Tenochtitlan voting for their MP and the Prime Minister. There was nothing in the Royal Decree signed by HIM Emperor Jason Norfolk I about separate subdivisions voting on different days, that is just how HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I, who is in charge of the 2nd General Elections, wanted to organize the elections. The voting started at 06:00 GMT-4 on that day where about sixty-six percent of the District of New Tenochtitlan voted. At about 15:00 GMT-4, the rest of the subdivision voted. At the end of the day, the election results were released by HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk. In the District of New Tenochtitlan, one-hundred percent of the population voted for HG Duke Iyan Seeker I for Prime Minister. In total, he has 25% of the votes in the Norfolk Empire, meaning he only needed three more votes, or 25% of the votes, to win the Office of the Prime Minister. Also, the Member of Parliament, MP, for the 1st District of New Tenochtitlan has become HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk I with 100% of the votes, meaning that the Green-Republican Party had a seat secured in the House of Commons.[4]

Second Day of Voting

On 6 September 2019, second day of voting for the 2nd General Election began with the Duchy of Dellfolk voting for their MP and the Prime Minister. The voting started at 06:00 GMT-4 on that day, even though no citizens of the Duchy of Dellfolk would have voted at that time. All of the citizens of the Duchy of Dellfolk voted at 17:00 GMT-4, which is the latest that any subdivision has voted at, so far. At the end of the day, the election results were released by HRH Prince Cooper Norfolk. In the Duchy of Dellfolk, one-hundred percent of the voters voted for Mayor Emmett Winters. In total, he has 16.67% of the votes in the Norfolk Empire, meaning he only needs four more votes, or 33.33% of the votes, to win the Office of the Prime Minister. Also, the Member of Parliament, MP, for the 1st District of Dellfolk has become Independent HRM Duchess Jonelle Bluetoski with 100% of the votes, meaning that the has their first-ever seat in the House of Commons.[5]

On 9 September 2019, the 2nd General Election of the Norfolk Empire came to an end with the final day of voting, which was 8 September 2019. This means that 9 September 2019 was the day that all winners of each election were be announced and the seating chart for the House of Commons was released. The first of those things to be released were the winners of each election. For the Office of the Prime Minister, the obvious winner was HG Duke Iyan Seeker I. He won with 66.67% of the votes in the Norfolk Empire against Mayor Emmett Winters, who only received 33.33% of the votes, and Fmr. General Max Joseph, who no one, even himself, voted for. He says that she will most likely run again for re-election in the 3rd General Elections that start in October 2019.[6]
