The Vlasyno-Dartirian Crisis (Romanian: Criza Vlasino-Dartiriană) was an event that lasted a few hours on 23 August 2018. It marked the peaceful end of the Vlasyno-Dartirian state and the re-establishment of both Vlasynia and Dartiria as independent nations.
Background
The Vlasyno-Dartirian state was first established on 21 June 2018, when Despot Ested I of Vlasynia and Co-Emperor Sweyn Hardeknud of Dartiria agreed to merge their nations into one. The result was a real union, known officially as the State Union of Vlasynia-Dartiria (Romanian: Uniunea de Stat a Vlasino-Dartiriei), with the two halves having equal power within the state. Moreover, both Ested and Sweyn became heads of state and assumed the title of Emperors, leading to Vlasynia-Daritiria becoming a federal imperial diarchy. Meanwhile, the Vlasynian and Dartirian monarchies and states still existed, albeit as constituent subjects of the imperial federal government, instead of independently.
On 16 July 2018, Emperor Sweyn proposed the adoption of a republican system of government. WIP
Crisis
On 23 August 2018, President Ested Vlăsceanu signed a series of five diplomatic accords with a fellow Bucharester micronation, the Republic of Istria, establishing formal diplomatic relations with them in the process. He then notified President Sweyn Hardeknud of the fact and invited him to sign the accords, as well. Instead, Hardeknud objected to Ested having signed the accords without waiting for him first. Eventual talks between the two lead nowhere and, shortly after, both Hardeknud and Andrei Rusu, the latter having been Prime Minister of Vlasynia-Dartiria at the time, issued a declaration of secession. Further negotiations initiated by Ested, who wanted to keep Vlasynia-Dartiria together, also failed, which, combined with the threat of secession war in the case of the President's refusal of the declaration, ultimately lead to him accepting the document and recognizing Dartirian independence.
Eventually, with just the Vlasynian territories left inside the United Republic, Ested simultaneously declared the official disolution of Vlasynia-Dartiria and the independence of Vlasynia.
