Vishwamitran order of precedence (orders and decorations)

Not to be confused with Vishwamitran order of precedence.

The Rashtradhyaksh has, at irregular intervals, notified for general information the positioning of the wearing of Vishwamitran orders, decorations and medals through various communiqués and notifications. The Order of Wearing of Vishwamitran Honours and Awards was first published in August 2022.

Order of wearing

Order of wearing decorations and awards within the Vishwamitran honours system.

Honours and awards listed include:

• those within the Vishwamitran honours system conferred by the Rashtradhyaksh;
• those conferred by Their Majesties The Rajpramukhs of the states under royal command;
• those conferred by The Sovereign in recommendation from the territorial administrators;
• foreign awards, the acceptance and wearing of which have been authorised by the Rashtradhyaksh.

Note that awards of the Republic of India are considered as foreign and should be worn accordingly.

Current order of wearing

The current order of wearing of the honours was determined on 4 January 2023 by the Rashtradhyaksh through a general notification.

  Light green denotes orders, decorations, and medals that are not open for nomination application.

Notes

1. The Royal Family Orders of the various royal houses of the states of Vishwamitra shall take precedence immediately after the Federal Royal Family Order. The royal family orders of states shall take precedence among themselves in the order of seniority of states. Members of the royal houses who are recipients of the state royal family orders pay first preference to those of their respective state and then others by the order of seniority.

2. The Royal Vishwamitran Chain precedes all grades of the Order of the Vishwamitra.
