Recognition

Hello!
I'm Prime Minister Ned Greiner of the State of Nedland. I've seen how developed Theodia is as a nation, and have been considering contacting your excellency about relations for some time. Would you consider recognition with Nedland? It's true we were involved in a scandal, but otherwise we have a very good reputation.
I have a treaty template ready that we could use, if you wish.
Regards,
Nedland (talk) 17:20, 20 June 2016 (BST)

Hello,
I am checking up on my recognition request. Though I am sure the answer is probably no by this time (In fact I'm sure of it), I am saddened by the fact that you wouldn't even take the time to respond to my request. However, I'm not a nobody noob, I am a member of the GUM and have led several major projects. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Nedland (talk) 13:11, 5 July 2016 (BST)

Apologies for the delay! I've been immersed in two short-session courses this summer, and they're just ending today, so I hadn't had time to give your request the attention it deserves. Theodia would be happy to discuss mutual recognition with Nedland. /swɛ́na/ 💬 13:20, 5 July 2016 (BST)

Oh hooray! Sorry for the rudeness, I'd seen that you'd edited pages after I sent the message! So sorry, now I feel like a bad person. But the terms'll be pretty normal if I make the treaty. Or do you wanna use your template, it's fine either way with me.
-Nedland (talk) 13:26, 5 July 2016 (BST)

That's alright! In my limited diplomatic career, I've found it's probably always best to avoid rudeness in diplomacy, though -- even when it's highly tempting. And I had indeed edited I think one page or so. Someone had applied for citizenship, and I was updating the citizen-count. I didn't have time to do more than that, though, so I didn't check my messages until today. I'd be fine with using your template. If we have one, it hasn't been updated since Axel's passing (I've always focused primarily on internal development). /swɛ́na/ 💬 20:59, 5 July 2016 (BST)

Here's the treaty. Feel free to comment on the document and give input

There's quite a bit more than just mutual recognition in there! Since Theodia has no intention of waging any sort of micronational war, the peace-clauses are de facto quite unnecessary; but I see little fault in having them. However, I do take some issue with the wordage 'commit' in section 4, as Theodia has very limited diplomatic resources at this time, having trouble even observing a YAMO; meaning that we would likely be unable to uphold that end of the bargain in all possible cases; but we are, of course, quite happy to cooperate on issues of mutual interest. I would perhaps prefer a wording akin to "to, where reasonable, commit", as it stresses our mutual goodwill, without expressly requiring such action (identifying and cooperating) in situations where it would not be realistic for Theodia (or Nedland) -- although perhaps I'm being overly pedantic here. /swɛ́na/ 💬 18:33, 6 July 2016 (BST)

Oh, of course! That's just wording, no problem at all :)! So, is it settled? I fixed changed to "where reasonable," I guess why not. Do you agree with all terms now, if you still don't that's ok.
Nedland (talk) 19:10, 6 July 2016 (BST)

I don't see the change in the Google Doc itself; but if it has been made, then I accept the terms of the treaty. /swɛ́na/ 💬 19:45, 7 July 2016 (BST)

Hooray! Then it is official? Nedland (talk) 19:59, 7 July 2016 (BST)

Correct. /swɛ́na/ 💬 20:03, 7 July 2016 (BST)

Hey Swena, you have Skype? My friend is interested in talking to you, but we can do it here if you really wish. - Nedland (talk) 21:25, 7 July 2016 (BST)
