The House of Lorráu is one of the main noble houses in the Kingdom of Eniarku. A family of largely German and Irish origins, most of its members settled in central Wisconsin in the early twentieth century following the end of World War I, and many of them remain in the area to this day. The house boasts an extremely healthy pedigree, maintaining a family tree that stretches far into the distant relatives of the current sovereign and other nobles.

Lorráu is an official parent house of the House of Abbott-Lorráu, which was established upon the coronation of King Aaron on 6 March 2017 as the official royal house of the kingdom, along with the House of Abbott (which consists of the king's paternal relatives). The Lorráus receive much of their acclaim as nobles by virtue of their ownership of the realm of Palma, which is one of the most historically significant former states of Eniarku, as well as the Duchy of Lorráu, the house's namesake realm.

Principal roles

Their principle roles (including those of their cadet branch) are:

  • King of Eniarku
  • Duke of Palma
  • Duke of Norton
  • Duke of Postulo
  • Duke of Lorráu
  • Duke of Appleton

The title Prince or Princess of Lorráu is reserved for the head of the house, at present Delores, Duchess of Palma (her Palmese title takes precedence over her Lorráuist one in her abbreviated, however, given that the latter is nominal).

Membership

The membership of the House of Lorráu is largely determined matrilineally, extending outwards enatically from the current sovereign, King Aaron, via Virginia The Queen Mother. Though it is possible to trace the ancestry of the king's maternal grandfather (Robert, Duke of Palma), this portion of the the family is typically excluded. The immediate membership of the house is as follows:

Rulers of the House of Lorráu

Though the Eniarkian monarchy officially belongs to the cadet house of Abbott-Lorráu, the noble house still maintains rule and ownership of many different realms in its own right that have come under the control of the Kingdom of Eniarku proper. Their coats of arms therefore reflect the assortment of titles and properties that each member possesses, and have throughout history been both complex or rather simple (owing to the ebb and flow of control that the Lorráus have maintained over time). All of the current members of the house are descended from the original Duke of Lorráu, the maternal great-grandfather of King Aaron.

Deloresian line: Dukes of Palma

Upon the establishment of the kingdom in 2015, the Lorráus that trace their lineage back to Delores, Duchess of Palma came into possession of the Duchy of Palma, a historic province of past incarnations of Eniarku. Coats of arms of the Palmese nobility feature the historic arms of Palma in the first and fourth quarters and the Lorráu arms in the second and third.

Gillian line: Dukes of Appleton

The Lorráus that trace their lineage back to Gill, 1st Duke of Appleton possess the duchy thereof, as well as several smaller realms created more recently. Coats of arms of the Appleton nobility feature the arms of Appleton in the first and fourth quarters and the Lorráu arms in the second and third.

Davidian line: Dukes of Lorráu

The Lorráus that trace their lineage back to David, 1st Duke of Lorráu possess the duchy thereof, as well as several smaller realms created more recently. The Duchy of Lorráu is, of course, the house's namesake, and the title is passed to the first son of the former duke (though the Duke of Lorráu is not necessarily the head of the entire house). The Lorráu nobility commonly uses the simple house arms as their personal arms, though some prefer to use the arms of their sub-realm.
