The United Democratic Nation of Nova, commonly shortened to Nova or UDNN, is a democratic libertarian micronation based in northeast Georgia. Founded on August 28, 2019, by a community member who has since asked for her name to be removed. Nova strives to represent a group of people driven towards personal prosperity, intellectual discovery and collective growth as a society. Many of Nova's core values lie in providing the tools to create a thriving, autonomous society. Some prominent objectives are protecting the disabled and elderly, providing skill-based classes, constantly developing education plans, and guaranteed job security.

These ideals, among the rights of each citizen, the economic plans, and the social culture are outlined in a 5-page constitution, created by the founder and current prime minister. Unenumerated rights and other ideals can be found on the national Twitter page.

Vexillology

Nova's flag utilizes a maroon background, blue, white and black accents, with a black tree front and center. Each component of the flag has expressed meaning. The dark red maroon is historically symbolic for confidence and passion, while blue is used to represent the desire for scientific discovery, social advancements and the possible growth to be achieved by all. Additionally, white and black represent the elegance and power that comes with advancing nations. Finally, the tree is a referral to the Tree of Life, a nod that all life comes from the Earth and no progress shall be made without honoring the gift given by Mother Earth.

History

Early Days

Nova was founded on August 28, 2019, after 5 months of observing the community. The creation was aided by already established micronations, such as Misberia or the former nation Haston. Nova would receive overwhelming community support during this stage but little to no government activity.

Crimson Union (UCSR)

On September 17, 2019, Nova would join a new union in connection with the Crimsonian Socialist Republic and Leighalle (formerly known as Braunland.) The union would be active 11 days before issues began to arise.

Ethan Brown Situation

On September 28, 2019, Ethan Brown, leader of Leighalle would commit an offensive act against the union, causing Leighalle's removal from the UCSR. This would mark the second notable event in Nova's national history, as the prime minister would accuse Brown of incident exposure and sexual harassment. This accusation would lead to community outrage and the creation of many future national issues.

The UCSR Going On

Nova would continue to participate in the UCSR until the two remaining nations were combined to form the Socialist Federal Republic of Crimson (SFRC). The newly formed socialist nation would run for the remainder of 2019 and end in February 2020, when Nova would regain its independence.

Nova Today

As of April 2020, Nova has maintained independence and seen an influx in community activity, citizenship and government participation. It is currently most active on Twitter and Discord.
