The Line of Succession

Dreska's government is broken up into two co-dependent parts, the first being a stratocracy (from the greek στρατός, stratos, "army" and κράτος, kratos, "dominion", "power") and is defined as "a form of military government in which the state and the military are constitutionally the same entity, and government positions are mostly held by military chiefs." Citizens with voluntary military service, or who have been honorably discharged, have the right to govern. The military's political power is supported by law and the society. As such a stratocracy does not have to be autocratic or democratic by nature in order to preserve its right to govern. It is not the same as a military dictatorship or military junta where the military's political power is not enforced or even supported by other laws.

The other part of the government is a diarchy (or dyarchy; from the Greek δι- / δύο meaning "two" and ἄρχω meaning "I rule") and is defined as "a form of government in which two individuals ("diarchs") are joint heads of state." Most diarchs hold their position for life, passing the position to their children or other family members. This is where Dreska differs from other Diarchies and takes on the principles of a meritocracy. Dreska's line of succession is made up of the General Officers in the military, and those officers are chosen by their superior based on their qualifications. This method of succession also acts as Dreska's checks and balances system.

Military

The Rank and File of the Dreskan Military

The military is a large focus of the Dreska's policies, it's role is purely governmental/symbolic at this point in time, though the Dreskan Armed Forces still play a large roll in the country. In times of national emergency however the military as a defensive tool will be activated under Dreska's Regulations of War, also in times of national emergency Fort Ticonderoga would become occupied by Dreskan military forces as soon as possible for preservation and strategic purposes. National emergency (as defined by Dreska) is "an urgent and critical situation of a temporary nature that seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Dreskan's and is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a territory to deal with it, or seriously threatens the ability of the Government of Dreska to preserve the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Dreska and that cannot be effectively dealt with under any other law of Dreska." The only time the military would really be activated would be if a total SHTF event were to occur following the collapse of the United States' ability to maintain law and order.

Being a landlocked nation Dreska's military capabilities are limited, and consist primarily of infantry. Members of the military who would be called to serve in times of national emergency consist of the First Infantry Division, First Ranger Detachment, First Mounted Division, and the Recon Detachment . That being said there are many varying subdivisions within the Dreskan military that are non-combat centric. Some examples being the Practitioner Corps which focuses heavily in first aid on and off the battlefield. The Radio Corps which deals with the most effective methods of communication between soldiers on the battlefield, and the relaying of orders from command. Documentation Office which is tasked with documenting Dreskan history, service records, court martial cases, and any other material the military deems fit for documentation. Lastly there is the Interior Guard which serve as the nation's police force. The only Dreskan uniforms at the moment are it's multiple combat uniforms which consist of spring/summer and fall/winter uniform for standard infantry, and a uniform for the Interior Guard.

Economy

Dreska's currency (the Vecto) is currently in development. During this period barter is the primary form of trade in the country, though the U.S. dollar is also widely used and accepted.

Culture

Given that the country is a stratocracy it is obvious that the military would play a very large part in the nation's culture. In Dreskan culture tattoos are not only socially acceptable, but are greatly encouraged. Facial hair is also greatly accepted by society as well as the military.
