The State of Wan is a self proclaimed sovereign state based around a blend of French, Japanese, and Chinese culture. The State of Wan was first conceived as a cultural and linguistic project, however after much discussion it was decided to establish it as a fully functional micronation.
The State of Wan was officially founded on the thirtieth of May 2021, however as of yet no formal declaration of independence has been drafted. its government is centered around the huángdì, or emperor, however the head of government as of date is the Chancellor, who oversees the government and the six ministries.
Etymology
The name of the State of Wan derives from its location along the Chesapeake Bay, the name is derived from the Chinese word Wān meaning "bay". other names were considered, many translating to something involving water including: Kingdom of the Marsh, State of Two Rivers, etc. however the term Bay was not only simple, but also had a simple translation into Chinese.
History
The Origin of Wan stems from an older project launched by King of the Aspens James Christian and Prime Minister Otto Gillespie Birch, a concept of a French and Japanese Culture for the Kingdom of Aspen was developed, however it was hard to implement due to the country's history and inactivity. After Prime Minister Birch resigned the kingdom once again fell into deeper inactivity and Culture Minister Aiken was the sole active member of the government.
After Consulting the Culture Minister, it was decided that Aspen would be mothballed and a new micronation created based on the cultural concept developed by the King and Prime Minister. Culture Minister Aiken, being well versed in the Chinese Language, especially Cantonese, was considered the prime choice to help develop Wan as a country, therefore he was appointed the first Chancellor of the State of Wan under its first Emperor.
