Emirate of Maza

The Emirate of Maza is a micronation which claims the Musandam Governorate. Maza was founded in 383AD after Qaasim Yazid decided to start an independant Emirate. Maza claims 1,800 square kilometers (695 sq mi). Maza's location juts into the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow entry into the Persian Gulf, from the Arabian Peninsula. It was an exclave of Oman separated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) It was partially controlled by both Oman and Iran as it is only a short boat ride to Iran. Due to it's location many cultures in the middle east have affected it. As North African and Oman cultures have been more prominent there are still Iranian cultures that are present for example the Iranian language Kumzari is common throughout Maza.

Maza is a picturesque region separated from the rest of Oman, with its scenery being quite attractive to tourists. Access to the peninsula was formerly rather difficult, with the only options being limited flights or a ten hour drive through four immigration posts. The world's fastest passenger ferry service between Muscat and Maza was launched in August 2008 to alleviate this problem and make the region more accessible. Maza has been credited for it's peaceful views on the conflicts taking place in the Middle east however the Emir of Maza Al'Ridwan Yazid has shown sympathy for the Palestinians with their conflict against Israel but will not send any military aid, only humanitarian.

History

Maza is believed to have originated for Arabic tribes who migrated from Yemen making a living by fishing, herding and stock breeding. Maza was controlled and/or influenced by three Persian dynasties: the Achaemenids, Parthians and Sassanids. The Sassanids seem to be the most likely to have occupied Maza. Al'Ridwan Yazid came to power after his father Muzammil Yazid died.

There have been many Royal Families in Maza's history, The Yazids, Salih's, Sadri's and the Wahba's

Government and politics

Maza is Emirate with an absolute monarchy system.

As an absolute monarchy, power is completely in control of the Emir. The Emir of Maza is the head of state and everything to do with it. The Emir will declare an heir to the throne before they die however if no heir is chosen then the Royal family will vote for the next Emir. If there is no Royal Family left then the people of Maza elect a new Emir. The Emir is accompanied by the Advisory Council.

Some parts of the coast, particularly near the Iranian border at the sea, sometimes receive no rain at all within the course of a year. The climate generally is very hot, with temperatures reaching around 50 °C (122.0 °F) (peak) in the hot season, from May to September.

Economy

Mazan economy was considered by the Mazan investors as the one of the best. Maza is funded well and the Central Maza Bank is developing different money however called Mazan Rials which are pegged to Omani Rials. This could have a negative effect on the economy but the Emir has calculated the costs.

The Maza economical system was introduced on December 17, 2014 after the Maza Money was printed for the first time. Until January 2011, the Dollar uses an artificial rate of Rp10,000 per dollar. Today, the government uses it's own currency rate.
