The Co-operative Party, also simply known as the Co-op, is a major centre-left political party in Leamouth supporting co-operative values and principles. The governing party since 2020, it holds an overall majority in the Leamouth City-State Council with nine Councillors. The Co-operative Party was founded by co-operative federations and trade unions to campaign politically for the fairer treatment of co-operative enterprise and working class, and to elect 'co-operators' and 'trade unionists' to the City-State Council. The party has been described as an alliance of co-operators, social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists.
The Co-operative Party was founded on 30 March 2020 and formed a majority government under Joe Budd in April 2020, having won the 2020 Leamouth general election. Budd's Co-operative government established HSC Leamouth, a publicly-funded healthcare service, and expanded the welfare state ever since.
