The Royal New Shropshire Regiment, or RNSR, is the sole army regiment of New Shropshire and a part of the Geraldine Household Forces.
History
The RNSR was formed in 1892 with the passing of the Defence and Military Act. It was used primarily to give FitzGerald family members commissions.
It has not seen combat, and is considered a reserve unit.
The 2019 Armed Forces Review confirmed that there were no plans to change the size or use of the RNSR.
Mission and Responsibility
The RNSR is a reserve force, and is constitutionally intended to be called upon in war. As of 2024 this has not happened and the unit's usage is thus purely ceremonial.
Structure
Whilst it has few standing personnel, the regiment is organised so that potentially it could be easily expanded. In current practice, it is considered a reserve company-sized unit and is part of 19 (Geraldine) Brigade along with other international and private units.
It is made up of 3 companies, A to C. A company is set up as a standard infantry company, organised into standard battle units. B company is organised similarly, but is designed to be based around small vehicles and light artillery. B Coy also contains Maritime Detachment, which is supports the Royal New Shropshire Navy as naval infantry. C company is designated as a support and logistics company.

King's Colour
Like most Commonwealth regiments, the RNSR has two colours. The King's colour is a banner-of-arms of New Shropshire defaced with the regimental badge, whilst the regimental colour is an again defaced blue field with the British flag in the far canton.
Ships potentially used by the RNSR, such as C Coy logistics ship, would fly the blue New Shropshire ensign as government ships.
