Viribis is a micronation formed on October 23, 2011, and founded on November 1st, 2011, reorganized February 23, 2012, refounded on January 10th, 2013, and renamed November 20, 2013, was once again killed off on October 5, 2014, and then returned - yet again - on November 14, 2014. Viribis in its short history has been a Republic, a Barony, and an Empire. It has kept the same ruler throughout and the same citizens. It is currently ruled by His Imperial Majesty, Terry Fairchild I, of the First Imperial House.

History

Era of Beginning

Quipipum began as the Republic of Zaryia on October 23, 2011. It was soon changed to a Barony, ruled by Baron Terry I, and very little activity happened in this age. It had a Constitution, a Declaration of Independence, and a few edicts. There were also very few citizens. Most of its history during this period is based on laws passed - of which there were few.

Era of the Empire

On February 23, the Barony of Zaryia was reorganized as the Great Zaryian Empire. The Constitution was revised as the Definilaw (Article X declaring martial law and dictatorship of the Emperor) and the position of Baron became that of Emperor. It was during this time that many experiments were tried regarding government. The first major event to happen was the War against Star, a micronation founded by the Emperor's smaller brother (name withheld for security reasons). The upstart country declared war on the Empire, and was defeated in the Battle of the Hallway. The Empire won.

The second major event was the April 2012 Water Crisis, which lasted from April 29–30, 2011. Plastic bottles of water were used during the deprivation of tap water, but they were neither cold nor fresh. During that same month, the Emperor banned so-called "Kobe steak". During May, the most major of the government's experiments was tried. The Zenfen - a name created by the Emperor. The citizens of the time ran - John D. Wauson, under the National Imperial Party, the Emperor's little brother (who'd since disestablished Star and became a citizen of Zaryia) under the National Imperial Party, and the Emperor's mother, Sherry G. Wood, under the Glitter Party. The Zenfen, meant to be a legislative body, failed.

During the eras of beginning and of the Empire, the Empire claimed a large array of territory throughout the universe, including a spot the size of ten Sun's on the star VY Canis Majoris, Saturn's E Ring, Olympus Mons of Mars, and a small spot in the house's (inwhich Zaryia was located) backyard. The end of this era finally came with a Declaration of Hiatus on July 16. This era lased from February 23 to July 16, 2012.

Era of Pause

This is the haziest era of Quipipum's history, because Quipipum began operating as a lawless nation, yet, outside of its own sphere of influence (the house where it's located) it was defunct. The most remembered event of this stage is that there was one time where the Emperor's little brother again instigated another bit of quackery, this time claiming the title of Emperor of Quipipum for his own. The claim was not recognized nor used. The other bits are some documents signed (one particular bill nicknamed the SUCC Statute for its extraordinarily long name) which, though the text can be found in the Imperial Records, is not in effect. This period ended on January 7 when the Emperor, bored without a micronation, declared Quipipum to exist again. This era lasted from July 16, 2012, to January 7, 2013.

Era of New Beginnings

This started with the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the First Core Decree: Government, the Second Core Decree: People, the Edict for the Creation of a Treasury, and the Creation of the Zenfen Assemblancy Advisory being passed that same day. The military - the Protection Forces - was created on the 27th, and on the 29th, the flag of Quipipum was sowed. It remains. On February 1, Hermana, another upstart micronation from the Emperor's little brother, declared war, stealing a Military Intelligence Report. They faced off in one battle, inwhich the Emperor obtained injury while using a weapon, a pick-axe-like tool. The splinter was shortly removed in an impromptu medical operation. The Emperor's brothers, seeing the horrors of war, agreed to a Treaty. The process of Hermana's leader declaring war on Quipipum was painful, as none of the Declarations of War were recognized until they were put on paper, until it could spell the name of Quipipum correctly, and until the Emperor's brothers signed their names on it.

It was in February that Quipipum was divided into Provinces. At the time, there was only one, New Stratford, named so because one of the Emperor's ancestors, Thomas Fairchild, who founded, along with several other families, Stratford in Connecticut.

On February 20, the First House of Representatives started, with John D. Wauson of New Stratford Province being the only Representative. The first Cap was held in March, with three laws passed, establishing taxes, diplomatic policy, and an amendment allowing for the Emperor to pass Imperial Dictums and for the Representative to pass Nobel Orders. Thus ending the Era of New Beginnings. This era lasted from January 7 to February 20, 2013.

Era of Indecision

The House of Representatives - the legislature - temporarily became totally ineffective when Imperial Dictum 03 was passed, allowing the Emperor to pass one law. John D. Wauson, with the country since the very beginning was awarded the title of Knight.

The anniversary of the April 2012 Water Crisis was commemorated with a speech given by the Emperor on May 1. The second (third if you count the Zenfen one) election was held in May, 2013, from the 5th to the 15th. John D. Wauson, this time running under the Libertarian Party (rather than Independent) won unanimously, creating the 2nd House of Representatives. On May 16, another Imperial Dictum restored the proper legislation creation. This culminated with a Cap on May 24 inwhich Quipipum acquired its very first land, annexing its former enemy, Hermana, has the Colony of Hermana. The Emperor's little brother was appointed Representative, ending the short-lived 2nd House of Representatives and beginning the third. John D. Wauson of New Stratford kept his position.

This era was marked by notable inactivity for the first time since the Era of Pause. This era came to an end with the deletion of the official website and its replacement by a news portal. This era lasted from February 20, 2013 to November 22, 2013. ===Era of Continuing Boredom The most major events have happened so far at the beginning of 2014. The 2013 Spirolis Awards were handed out in four categories, Video Game, Movie, Show, and Song of the Year. The winners were The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in the Video Game category, The Day of the Doctor in the Movie Category, Fullmetal Alchemist in the Show category, and Eleanor Rigby in the Song category. Such winners were only announced online, with the paper delivery only coming in June.

The era was characterized by incredible inactivity, in some forms continuing on from the previous era. In person, much happened in religious terms. While the previous majority had been either Atheist or made amusing claims to Pastafarianism, this evolved into the Church of the Great Frog, which came to an end in September 2014. The national religion has since reverted to its state of non-religiousness, Atheism.

Irregardless, the irregular newspaper continued, finally coming for the twelfth time in June after only a single January issue of it. Culture continued to develop, but in matters of importance, little happened. This era began on November 22, 2013 and continued for sometime, finally ending on October 5, 2013.

Era of Return

Viribis once again returned a short time later on November 14, 2014, with the entire governmental system currently under re-writing and the entire country being reorganized.

Culture

Jokes

Viribis-originated jokes commonly made include bashing the Kaiser Henry J - an automobile from the 1950s - for its lack of a glovebox, accused of being the reason that the car was such an enormous failure. When one dislikes a car, it is theorized that the average Viribian would grumble "At least it has a glovebox."

Another joke that is made somewhat less often regards dishwashers, mockingly called "dishrinsers" because the one used at Viribis is universally seen as ineffective and half-dead (despite being completely functional).

A newer joke stems from the Emperor's use of the term superfluous, with the joke being the question "What's a fluous?" The nature and meaning of fluous is, as yet, still unknown.

Media

Viribis, being an incredibly small micronation, has a relatively small amount of media, with the VZ Herald having a total and complete monopoly on the print and digital market.
