Zealandia, officially the Principality of Zealandia, is a New Zealand micronation landlocked within the city of Hastings, Hawke's Bay. The Principality was initially created in opposition to the Three Waters reform programme, rejecting the reforms of the Hawke's Bay Region, and declaring independence from New Zealand in spite of the programme. Zealandia strives to create sustainable agricultural practices, creating an environmentally-friendly lifestyle and promoting renewable energy sources for economic gain.
Etymology
Zealandia is named after the submerged mass of continental crust of the same name, as well as the micronation being situated on the islands of New Zealand.
History
The Principality was created by Prince Ryan in spite of the Three Waters reform programme, in which the programme enforces policies such as higher water costs, unnecessary bureaucracy, no local control of water, and undemocratic enforcement. A constitution was created and the Principality of Zealandia declared itself independence.
Politics
The Principality of Zealandia's governmental system is that of absolute monarchism
Zealandia believes that absolute monarchy promotes a strong, stable government where the monarch upholds unrestricted authority and power. We believe that a system such as this leads to greater unity and order within a micronation, in contrast to democratic micronations which, without control, can lead to conflict and chaos within a small community.
Zealandia withholds absolute monarchy because the principality currently has no need for ministers, ambassadors and the like.
