History
The title was created on 25 May 1974 as Duke of Amores (Duque de Amores) by King Henrique for his eldest son and heir apparent, Infante Fernando. However, later that same year on 21 November, the title was elevated to Prince of Amores on the occasion of the Infante Fernando's 20th birthday.
Upon the death of Henrique on 21 November 2010 (Fernando's 56th birthday), the title passed to Fernando's eldest son, Infante Cristóvão. Since the accession of Cristóvão in 2019, the title has been in abeyance.
