The Prime Minister of Prittlewell is the highest - ranked elected official in the Kingdom and the second most powerful position behind the monarch. The position of Prime Minister was created in the Constitution of Prittlewell (1991) and has formed a part of the Prittlewellian Government ever since; As of November 2018, 18 individuals have held the office. Historically, during the reign of King Timothy I (1991–2013) the Prime Minister was the de facto leader of the Prittlewellian Government when monarchical power was significant but rarely used. Since 2013, when Timothy's successor, King James I (a former Prime Minister himself) ascended to the throne the role and influence of the Prime Minister has decreased significantly. The Prime Minister is responsible for presenting nominees for Cabinet positions to the Tsar as well as serving as official secretary of the Cabinet and the Tsar's Chief Adviser. The Prime Minister is responsible for ensuring the passage of legislation through the Parliament (similar to the House/Senate Majority Leader in the United States) and represents the King in the chamber. The Prime Minister is typically, but not necessarily the leader of the largest party in the Legislative Assembly and serves until they lose a general election or the confidence of the House. The Prime Minister can also be dismissed by the King as has happened in March 2016 and May 2018.
