The potato standard is a Commodity monetary sysme based off potatoes used exclusively in the Grand Duchy of Marquette.

History

The potato standard originated as an effort to encourage local industry, the 2020 convention for the basis of the Dukesmark posited that having a true fiat system would be unstable and could become valueless with any mismanagement however they also acknowledged that a gold standard would be infeasible to implement due to the impoverished state of the nation at that point. The compromise was to base the currency in something that was produced locally but in limited numbers, the final choice after weeks of debate was potatoes.

2022 re-valuation

in the 2023 Constitution of Marquette the potato standard was updated to be valued at 1lb of potatoes.
