Political absolutism

Political Absolutism is a term used to apply to a great many systems in which one person, or one organ of State authority, has unquestioned power over all or most other organs. Absolute Monarchy is the most common form of absolutism, with all official power being vested entirely in the Crown or Monarch. Historically, the term was used to apply to European monarchies where no-one and nothing - including the Church - was superior to the Monarchy. A common variant of Absolutism is Enlightened Absolutism, a form of Benevolent Dictatorship.
