The People's Republic of Ponderosa Hills, commonly known as Ponderosa Hills or Pondo, is a de facto autonomous region of the United States and Canada that claims to be a sovereign state, which has been described by observers as a micronation. It officially has 3 territorial claims spanning 2 macronations, although a majority of Ponderosan claimed territory is not controlled by the Ponderosan government. Ponderosa Hills is governed through a unitary directorial socialist multi-party republic, with two Presidents; Leon Montan and Jayden Lycon.

Etymology

The name "Ponderosa Hills" comes from the neighborhood (called Arastraville officially) with the same name. The neighborhood named "Ponderosa Hills" because it is located in a Ponderosa pine forest, and is made upon a large number of hills.

The official name of Ponderosa Hills is the People's Republic of Ponderosa Hills, but is commonly known as Ponderosa Hills, and is sometimes called Pondo by residents of Ponderosa Hills.

History

First socialist state

The first incarnation of the People's Republic of Ponderosa Hills was founded on 26 July 2016 by a 10 year-old Leon Montan. The nation was a de jure one-party state, however no political parties existed at the time. After the foundation of the country, Leon Momtan appointed himself as President, and his cat, Sixy Montan, as Prime Minister.

This entity was quickly forgot about, and was replaced by a more democratic republic once the President remembered about the entity.

Republic

In the November of 2017, Leon Montan remembered about the original People's Republic of Ponderosa Hills, so he created the Republic of Ponderosa Hills. A constitution was drafted, explaining the claims and government of Ponderosa Hills.

Kingdom

Not much was written down about the Kingdom of Ponderosa Hills, but it was led by King Sixy I, now known as Sixy Montan, and was created on 27 April 2018. Leon Montan was the Prime Minister. It ended when Leon Montan declared the Empire of Ponderosa Hills.

Empire

On 14 May 2019, Prime Minister Leon Montan proclaimed an empire, with himself as the Emperor and Prime Minister, and adopted a democratic parliamentary government. Ponderosa Hills became a more mainstream micronation during the Empire, after Leon Montan became active on MicroWiki@Discord.

Government and politics

According to the Constitution, Ponderosa Hills is a socialist republic, with the People's Supreme Assembly as the national legislature. The Socialist Worker's Party, which is now the Green Party, was formerly the sole legal party. Previously, Leon Montan had full power, as he made a document that dissolved the People's Supreme Assembly and allowed him to rule by decree.

Law and order

The supreme legal document of Ponderosa Hills is the Constitution.[1] It was ratified on 12 December 2019.

Military

The military of Ponderosa Hills is the National Liberation Army. However, during the Republic, Kingdom, and Empire eras, the New Ponderosan Army, a Ponderosan nationalist paramilitary was the military of Ponderosa Hills, according to the Constitution of those entities.

Economy

Officially, Ponderosa Hills has a socialist economy, but in practice it is a capitalist system. Its currency is the Ponderosan dollar, but it de facto uses the United States dollar.

Geography

Ponderosa Hills officially claims the Californian county of Tuolumne, but these claims are ceremonial, and the Ponderosan government de facto claims part of Arastraville. The Ponderosan government calls this part of Arastraville the Ponderosan Free Zone. The territory of that area is Leon Montan's house, and the street that it is on.
