Form of title

The titles of peers are in the form of "(Rank) (TitleName)" or "(Rank) of (TitleName)." The name of the title can either be a place name or a surname.

Styles and titles

Dukes use His Grace and the other peers use The Right Honourable. Peeresses (whether they hold a peerage in their own right or are the wives of peers) use equivalent styles.

In speech, any peer, except a Duke or Duchess, is referred to as Lord X or Lady X. The exception is a Baroness in her own right, who may be called Baroness X but Lady X is also appropriate.

Precedence

Peers are entitled to special precedence due to their rank.

The Sovereign, as fount of honours, has the ability to change the precedence of peers, at their will.
