The nobility of El Dorado is the peerage of the six Golden Realms, including both hereditary and life peerages. The law permits the possession of many titles simultaneously if one is a Doradan National and was originally granted a grandeeship. Nobility is either hereditary or meritocratic. Nobles have the right to armorial bearings granted by the Corte of Heralds, the right to sit in the Chamber of Censors, and the rights and privileges otherwise associated with the noble estate.

Structure

The nobility can be classified as one of the following: Hereditary Peerages, either Grandees or Hidalgos, and Life Peerages, all of which are Hidalgos; Royal Titles; and the Escuderos, the class of both untitled nobles and Knights.

Imperial and Royal

The titles of nobility reserved for royals are as follows.

  • Emperor/Empress of the Golden Realms, referred to as "His/Her Imperial and Royal Majesty" in reference, and "Your Majesty" or "Señor/Señora" spoken. This is the main title of the reigning monarch.
  • King/Queen, a title used by various domains of the Emperor/Empress.
  • Crown Prince/Princess, referred to as "His/Her Royal Highness" in reference and "Your Highness" or "Señor/Señora" spoken. This is the main title of the heir to the throne.
  • Condestable, or Constable, referred to as "His/Her Royal Highness" in reference and "Your Highness" or "Señor/Señora" spoken. This is the main title of the second in line to the throne.
  • Infante/Infanta, referred to as "His/Her Royal Highness" in reference, and "Your Highness" or "Señor/Señora" spoken. This is the main title of any junior member of the Imperial Family that is also an immediate family member of the monarch, in which case they are also titled dukes or duchesses; and also the main title of cadets, who likely do not have noble titles.
