Monaticut, officially the Kingdom of Monaticut (Cantonese Chinese: 摩納狄格王國, Wôpanâak: Kutash8tam8uk Mônâteeqayut) is a tiny unrecognized nation located entirely within the territory of the United States. Founded in 2014, it is an absolute monarchy, with Eliza I being the first and current Queen.
Etymology
The kingdom adopted its name from the Monatiquot River, which in turn derives from "Mônâteeqayut" in the Wôpanâak (Wampanoag) Indian language, meaning "a lookout-out place".
Government and Politics
As an absolute monarchy, the reigning monarch holds full executive authority, and (due to the lack of a parliament) full legislative powers as well.
Succession
The order of succession for the Monaticotian throne is determined by female-preference cognatic primogeniture. Thus, a prince may only be eligible to become King if he has no living sisters, or deceased sisters with descendants.
Defense
Monaticut has no standing military, and thus relies on the United States Armed Forces for defense and the local police for security.

Currently, 100% of all Monaticotian citizens identify as ethnic Chinese.
Language
The national languages are English, Cantonese Chinese, and the Wôpanâak Indian Language. English is used most often for official purposes and Cantonese is the de facto lingua franca.
Religion
The state religion is Buddhism, and 80% of the population are Buddhists. Freedom of religion is, however, guaranteed by an edict of the Queen. However, The monarch is required by law to be a practicing Buddhist.
