The Misberian Confederacy, commonly known as Misberia, is a self-declared sovereign state but is more commonly referred to as a micronation by external observers. Misberia is a nation made up of non contiguous plots of land located around the world which represent many differing cultures and values. Misberia is mainly located in the American state of Maine and is bordered by many micronations in the Machias Micronational Hub including Commonwealth of Naveria and Reino de Atlia. The nation one day wishes to found itself as a town located in Maine, built upon the principles of cooperation, justice, and ecologically friendly values.

Etymology

Misberia is defined as the historic merging of states of the Kingdom of Mistak founded in 2015 located in southern and northern Maine and the Kingdom of Timberia located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire founded in 2017. The nation has four national languages which are English, French, Passamaquoddy-Maliseet and Spanish which the name of the nation is translated into.

National Symbols

Misberia has had many flags and coat of arms over the years with many being changed and remade. Misberia has had at least twenty one flags with notable ones being for the United Kingdoms of Misberia and Caloudonoum and the Fourth Kingdom of Misberia.

National Flag:

The national flag of Misberia is a square flag with the proportion of 2:2, one half of the flag is an arrangement of twelve alternating bars of gold and green. These bars represent the twelve people who were present for the localization order and signing of the constitution on 20 March 2020. On the other side of the flag is a white background with a green deer silhouette. The green deer represents the national animal of Misberia. The green represents the honesty and fields of the nation, the gold represents the justice and produce of the nation as well as the sun. The white represents the peace and prosperity of the nation as well as the white caps of the waves on the coasts of the nation as well as the snow which brings joy to the younger citizens.

Coat of Arms:

The national coat of arms is similar to the national flag. The coat of arms is a simple heater shield with a per pale design with the twelve bars of alternating gold and green on one half and the white background with the green deer on it. Surrounded by on both sides in its supporters being a sea turtle and deer. On the top of the shield there is a Native American Chief Head on either side of the head being the flags of Maine from 1910 and the Passmaquoddy Tribe. Finishing the coat of arms is a ribbon with the nation's national moto "Life is But a Sapling".

History

Beginnings

15 April 2015 - February 2019.

On 15 April 2015, Farmia, later Mistak was founded. Farmia was started on Minecraft then later moved to the nation-state and a more realistic stance as time went on. On 20 February 2016, Mistak was created and renamed Farmia to Mistak and became a nation-state based nation. In Early March and June of that year, Mistak changes ideologies to Technocratic and Communist respectively as Archie liked the ideologies at that time. On 4 July 2017 the first monarchist government is created under the dynasty name of Andros run by then King Archie. One year later elections are held to find a new Prime Minister and Andy is elected. On 30 June 2018, the "Mistakian-Timberian Agreement" is signed allowing the unification of Mistak and Timberia to occur in early November. On 5 November 2018, both nations agree it is time for the agreement to be fulfilled creating the Federation of Mistak-Timberia. On 20 November 2018, both nations officially united under the name Misberia. On 23 November Misberia joined the now-defunct Global Micronational Alliance and was quick to become a leader of the organization under the leadership failings of Tony.

Era of Unions and Great Reforms:

Febuary 2019 - March 14th 2020

The nation remained very inactive and unorganized during the months of January and February 2019, Misberia joined Aspen in a union called the Aspen-Misberian Empire. On 23 February Misberia and Aspen united into the Aspen Misberian Empire, union looked hopeful and promising for both parties but problems soon arose. Underrepresented government, confusing government and a feeling of Misberian culture being squashed under the Aspen eagle. On 6 March Misberia officially declared independence from the Aspen Misberian Empire and has been considered a major point in Misberian History. On 6 July 2019 Caloudonoum joined Misberia as a Special Regional State. When Archie returned himself, Samuel Hoffmann and Hville Alvstad all worked together to rework the government to allow the people to have less of a say as a general consensus was, the nobles do all the work so a Royal Council was created with the three making up the council. The nation officially changed its name to "The United Kingdoms of Misberia and Caloudonoum" on 16 August 2019. After the first parliament meeting, the government seemed ready to tackle many issues including inactivity, right before the meeting, Misberia was accepted as a member state of Grand Unified Micronational. During this time Misberia built its relations with Kingdom of Hrafnarfjall, Crimson, Nova, ISSR, Altia, and Obscurium. In the final two weeks of 2019, Columbusstan, Terrexa joined Misberia as their nations were falling into inactivity. On 1 January 2020 the Zuhanese Commonwealth joined Misberia when Emperor Connor stepped down. Caermont and Metacomet joined Misberia on 9 January 2020 as their government was falling on inactivity and a lack of interest. Misberia reformatted its government on 16 January 2020 to allow a civilian government and to allow more freedoms for the member states of the kingdom. On March 3rd Tsar Archie Birch abdicated and allowed a civilian government to form. On this day Belgica announced they were leaving the nation, as well did Naples leaving the nation with a population drop of 70. This coupled with Thomas Bainbridge taking a lot of power in the new civilian government as Prime Minister and Archie fearing Thomas would make it another Hrafnarfjallian colony that died like the Aspen Empire or Fesmarian Kingdom. With these factors and fears the United Kingdoms of Misberia and Caloudonum was announced dissolved on 5 March 2020.

Era of Growth and Sorrow:

14 March 2020 - September 2020

On 14 March 2020, Misberia reformed into the Grand Duchy of Misberia and officially became public for the community. The nation is still reorganizing itself after the dissolution of its predecessor. The nation has attracted some well known and previous Misberian and Community officials allowing the nation to go right into functioning. COVID-19 has surprisingly brought the nation into a steady increase of activity and has seen the nation work harder and better to help the local communities. The nation was brought into localization after Archie Birch became disinterested and realized if Misberia were to become a town it would need to be a localized government. On 20 March 2020, after the nation became localized, most government positions were taken by old members of the historic founder's council which lead Misberia from November 2018 to February 2020. On 20 March the constitution was finalized and approved from the National Grand Duchy Council as well as seven citizens who wished to sign the document. On this day Archie Birch was made Premier of the nation and became the leader and figurehead of the nation. On 22 March 2020, the very first nonregional citizens, since then only four out of the seven nonregional citizens have accepted this and have become active members of the national government. Misberia has recently signed a treaty of recognition with Empire of Adammia one of the original inspirations for the foundation of the Misberian state and its proto states. Misberia has opened its doors to more non Mainers and has established a Misberian Worker's Council for members of the non Mainer population to have a voice in the government. Misberian Failed Coup of May 2020 occurred on the evening of 23 May and resulted in the loss of 75% of the population but quickly rebounded when the community can in support to help Misberia. After this period of uncertainty, Misberia worked more internally with Maria Birch working on stabilizing the nation and working harder to create a national culture for the nation. Native american culture was used much more and the nation started a slow but stead expansion of its internal functions. On 31 July, Maria was announced as have passing away which put the nation in shock, the nation announced a sixteen day mourning period. Following this period of pain and sorrow the nation began using the information and ideas where Maria left off, it was soon discovered she had a plan for a Imperial Misberia, following some questions it was discovered that many citizens wanted a Imperial Misberia. Following a referendum 92% of the population agreed with Misberia going Imperial.

Government

The Misberian government is a uni-caramel system which is based in the historic system of Misberian government which is a single council under the Madakawando Sakom with many areas of Misberian society and culture being represented. The single council is called the Imperial Round Table with the leader of the council called the Witapal. The Imperial Round Table meets once a month and votes and debates suggestions and policies brought to the council.

Economy

The economy of the Misberian Confederacy is small with limited use, the economy is based upon a barter and trade system where goods and services are decided on by the individuals in the deal. The Misberian government makes money through a series of monthly donations Clynk and redemption center programs. [1]The main currency of Misberia is the New England Sector Confier and is tied to the Passamaquoddy Flag Collection, of which every ten Confiers are linked to a six by six inch piece of flag from the collection. [2] The Misberian government has partaken in one intermicronational trade which was with the Republic of Elysium. Fur trading and maple syrup production and sale is expected in the coming months with Kingdom of Hrafnarfjall.

Culture

Overview:

The culture of Misberia comprises a shared heritage and culture primarily in New England that is shaped by its indigenous peoples, early English colonists, and waves of immigration from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In contrast to other American regions, many of New England's earliest Puritan settlers came from eastern England, contributing to New England's distinctive accents, foods, customs, and social structures.

In Misberian culture folk music and outdoor activities make up the majority of the social activities of Misberia. besides folk music and outdoor activities the nation enjoys board games and video games such as Minecraft. The citizens of Misberia are very out going and have made hiking and swimming a major part of the social events that occur in the nation. Misberia has proclaimed a day every week as Day of Reconnection, in which citizens disconnect from roles in the government and on the internet and spend the day outside or with their families, Archie Birch is known to work every day of the week and usually ignores this holiday.

Accent:

There are several American English accents spoken in Misberia including New England English. The New England English dialect is native to the region. Many of its most stereotypical features (such as r dropping and the so-called broad A) are believed to have originated in Boston from the influence of England's Received Pronunciation, which shares those features. While some Boston accents are most strongly associated with the so-called "Eastern Establishment" and Boston's upper class, the common accent is locally prevalent and predominantly associated with blue-collar natives exemplified by movies like Good Will Hunting and The Departed. The Boston accent and accents closely related to it cover eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Misberia has no official language but Christianity of some form is represented by over eighty percent of the population. The nation also has a small Pagan and Buddhist representation in the nation. Most citizens of Misberia attend the same church in Songo and are known to discuss Misberia and her on goings during Sunday School. The national patron saint is The Star of The Sea.

The nation has adopted its own calendar with the Gregorian Calendar split into four months along the solstices and equinoxes and the beginning year of the calendar is 1492 for the representation on when Europeans started coming to North America. The months are named after Wabanaki Native American gods.

Misberian foreign relations were only established fairly recently in its existance only starting in November of 2018. Misberia joined the Global Micronational Alliance on November 25th 2018 as a founding nation, nations like Somcowian Federation, Federal Kingdom of Falvia, Kingdom of Aspen, Imperium Germania, Confederation of Caloudonoum and Fraughtian Community, the organization held meetings regarding diplomacy and cooperation. After the organisation fell in January 2019, power blocks were formed with nations like Kingdom of Aspen and the Confederation of Caloudonoum. Things remained tense against Somcowian Federation until August 2019 when Misberia joined the Grand Unified Micronational as an official member. Since joining the GUM, Misberia has seen a new sense of belonging in the greater micronational community and has gone on to have members of its government work with organizations and nations such as Archie Birch working as the Secretary of Statistics from January 1st 2020 until January 1st 2021. Misberia has spread headed its own projects such as the New England Sector and cultural exchange programs of which its first one was with the Reino de Atlia. Misberia has since the passing of its late Duchess Maria Birch taken on a more serious attitude to diplomatic relations resulting in a strict one treaty of recognition per month for all of 2021 and the ceasing of aimless micronational treaties and organizations.
