Overview

The Micronational Rugby World Cup 2017 will be the first edition of the tournament. It will be organised by Micronational Rugby, the micronational rugby federation. It will have four teams. The host will be the Popular Union of Occitania after they were the only bidders for the competition. Matches will be played at the Maltemps Arena which has a virtual capacity of 100,000 people and at the Swedish Dome which has a virtual capacity of 30,000.

The Popular Union of Occitania was the only bidder so the micronation was awarded as hosts of the competition.

Format

All teams in will compete in a round-robin format playing each other once. The top two in the group will qualify for the grand final which will be held at the Maltemps Arena, which has a virtual capacity of 100,000.
